Apparently the DTV Transition is being pushed back because a bunch of people who need the converter box are unable to get the government coupon, which gives them $40 off a converter box. Almost 3 million people have requested coupons, but most people have not gotten theirs, and considering that it takes 6-8 weeks for a coupon to arrive, the switch to DTV would have already occured, and these people would be left without a TV signal. Of course, you could just go out and buy a converter box anyways, but most people are looking to save money wherever possible, and if the switch happened on February 17, the original transition date, many people would have been left without signals, considering that the government can only produce so many coupons. I, personally, am not affected by the DTV transition, as I have DirecTV, like 70% of America (not DirecTV, but cable or satellite). Is anyone affected by this, or has bought a converter box? |
