Progression Bar?

i just had a quick question about ffr, and i never really noticed this...

i was using ffr the beta and opera web browser and i couldnt help but notice this thin line under your score during the song. right when the grey stops there is this little strip of black and it slowly fills up throughout the song, filling up faster when more steps are sent and slower when less are sent, and eventually at the end of the song it hits full and the song is over. is this supposed to be some type of progression bar? because i never noticed it. and if it is, then lol its pretty inconviniently placed.
