But nobody wanted revolutionary design; we wanted an upgraded Halo 1, and that's what we got.
Maybe you didn't want Halo 2 to be as revolutionary as the first one (read: not at all), but tons of fans did. Everybody treated this game like the second coming of christ, not an expansion pack (which is essentially what it is). I've heard fans complaining about the lack of new content in Halo 2. Nobody wanted an upgrade, they wanted a sequel.

If there had been an engine overhaul, that would have pissed off far too many fans.
That's entirely different than a game overhaul, since engine deals with the graphics and nothing else. Nobody plays console games for graphics, anyway.

And IMO, Halo 2 engine =/= Halo 1 engine. There was and engine overhaul.

Did Halo 1 deserve a platinum award (three tens)? Yes.

Does Halo 2? No.
I like how your logic doesn't make sense here. Halo 2 is a better game, so it should get...a worse score? Organize your thoughts, man.

And a second IMO, I get EGM too, I love the mag, but they're up there with Gamespot and PSM when it comes to letting hype effect their reviews. Their reviews pretty much revolve around hype. It wasn't coincidence that both Halo 2, the most anticpated game for Xbox and subject of massive debate, got the same perfect score as GTA:SA, the most anticipated game for PS2 and subject of massive debate.

And about the mags rating it high so that their subscribers wouldn't cancel, that's complete and utter bullshit. When one of the reviewers gave PSO a four or a six, I didn't throw the magazine to the ground, piss on it, then go cancel my subscription.
Then maybe you're more level headed than the average reader. If you don't think that the reviews the magazines put out affect their sales, you're deluding yourself.

Honestly, though, who goes to a game review website to be entertained? I expect reviews to be informative, not entertaining (save Seanbaby, but that's a different matter). I'm dumbfounded that you would let yourself be taken in by such bad logic, Anti.
ya ok

"So did you hear about the new review Gamecrap gave Grand Theft Halo? They said it was way better. Get online and see."
"No way, Metroid Auto is so much better. I'm logging on now."
"Look at this one dude's post, what a moron. I'm calling (insert fanboy), he has to see this."
"K, I'll call (insert fanboy #2). OMG! LOOK AT THIS GUY! I'm totally flaming him."

Millions of gamers flock to websites to chat, discuss and flame about their favorite games. Meanwhile, the websites themselves are loving it, because their hits triple and suddenly advertisers are beating down their doors. They get more money for their six story houses, and every time they can't afford a new Mercedes they simply pump out another bs review, rub their hands, and smily grimly as the millions of idiots play right into their hands. Open your eyes, Guido- I'm suprised that you let yourself be fooled with such bad logic.
