Default My Black Friday Shopping Experience: 2004

I didn't get much this year. There really wasn't much of anything I wanted. My friend and I decided to go to Meijer first (similar to a Wal-mart) and then to CompUSA. Meijer is open 24 hours a day. The sale started at 5 am. We got there at 4:45 am, and there were a ton of people there in the store already. I heard from one of the employees that they have to put the stuff out on third shift.

Everything I wanted was still there. They had dvds on sale for $11.77, but limit one of only one (not one of each). I had really wanted Aladdin, so I grabbed that. Then they had the best deal: buy any video game and get a second video game of equal or lesser value for half price. I only own a Gamecube and GBA, and my computer wouldn't run Half-Life 2 worth a crap. So I bought Metroid Prime 2 and Pokemon: Leaf Green.

Oh, and I get an additional 10% off on top of that because I used to work at Meijer. My team member card still works. 8) We have 6% sales tax so it's basically 4% off the price listed. In any case, I got Pokemon for around $8, Aladdin for $12, and Metroid Prime 2 for normal price.

We then hit up CompUSA because my friend wanted a lot of things there. We waited an hour outside. There were only a dozen people there at the time. When we got in, I was calm. Everyone else were chickens with no heads. I asked where the CD cases were, because they had one on sale that holds 208 cds for $9.99 ($27.99-$9 instant-$9 MIR). I went over to the area, found them. There were only 2 on the shelf. I grabbed both, one each for both my friend and I, right in front of another guy who was looking for them. So basically my friend and I were the only ones in the store who got these cases. Anyways, we found everything he wanted. Somethings you had to go to a service desk so they can send them to a cashier's line (I guess they were afraid of people stealing those items).

Oh, and a bunch of people were grabbing this intellimice, thinking they were the ones on sale. No you dumbfucks, check the SKU #. It doesn't match. The original PRICE doesn't even match. Yes, CompUSA was stupid and didn't put the $7.99 price by the right mice. In any case, I figured out which mouse it was and grabbed it for my friend. There was one left and it was on a different shelf level then where they listed the SKU and price. I just thought it was funny that many people were grabbing the wrong mice. I saw one guy with 3 of them... haha

During checkout, I payed with cash for some of my friend's items, because he wanted two of them. I told the guy I wanted to pay for my cd-case separately with my credit card and that I was paying cash for the other stuff. He rings up the other stuff, I pay it, I pull out my credit card and have it in my hand, he gives me the change, starts to bag up the cd case and other stuff and starts to grab the receipts. I non-chalantly put my credit card in to my pocket, he hands me the bag, and says to have a good day. My case was free apparantly.

We hit up McDonald's afterwords. I got a McGriddle. It was only the second time I've ever had one. The last time was a year ago coming back from Black Friday.... mmmmm good.
