Default Sampling

So let's say I'm listening to a song and I hear some really cool noise, or a really good lyric, or anything like that, and I wanted to pull that part out of a song. Do I need a special uber $1000 program to do this, or could a small free program do it, or is it just not possible? As of right now all I can think of to do is use an equalizer and try and tune out all the sounds other than the one I want, but this leaves what I've taken out sounding weird, and usually with the rest of the song still in the background.

All I want is to be able to do something like pull out Lil' John saying "YEEEEEEEEAH" in some song so I can send it to people, or to perhaps make silly songs using that clip. It's nothing complex, but I have no idea how to do it.

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O
