Okay, so Google comes around and starts one of the best search engines on the web. Then, they go and start the best email server I've ever seen. What do they do next?
How about Google SMS (Short Message Service)? With this, you are able to do a (limited) Google search of the web, do Froogle price checks on things, get White and Yellow pages entries, get definitions for words, calculate a large number of things and even do unit conversions, and who knows what more they'll add? This was only implemented last Thursday. How do you do it? All you have to do is text message GOOGL (46645) from your cellphone with the query. It's ridiculous! Before my friends and I can get over one innovation, they come out with another. Yesterday they released a program which allows you to Google search your own computer for several types of documents, including Office documents, Outlook emails, IE files, and even AIM IM and chat conversations. They're also going to release updates for different browsers and more file types in the future, because this was only started yesterday. This is ridiculous, too! On Google's list of things to do: Make an awesome web browser. Step one (hiring a bunch of experts in browser design) is already done. No official word on it yet, but I have no doubt it will happen, becuase what Google wants, Google makes. God, I love them. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |
