I was watching one of my favorite shows, Sex and the City, the other day. (Not a word from ANY of you....this show rocks.)
In this show, there is a character named Charlotte, and she meets and falls in love with a man named Harry, who is jewish and won't marry anyone who isn't. (Like most Jews) After much careful thought on her part, she decides to convert to Judaism, leaving her old faith behind. Now at first, I thought this to be sweet and a wonderful thing to do for someone you love, until this one episode where she and Harry got into a fight, and she said "I gave up Christ for you, and you can't give up a yankees game?" This is when it hit me: Giving up Christ. If this were me, there is no WAY I could give up Christ for any living person, no matter how much I love them. I will love God more. At the same time, however, some people would argue that God wants His people to be happy, and in order to be happy, Charlotte had to convert, but I still say that my faith would come before any person on this earth. Agree? Disagree? I am interested in feedback. =) |
