K I know this isn't the right site to post this, but I don't really use any other forums so i'll give this a go here. I need some opinions on what i should do. So Yesterday I was out snowboarding with 3 friends, 2 male and 1 female, at a local hill. Near the end of the day, me and male friend 1 were still riding, while male friend 2 and female friend were in the lobby. I had left my car keys in my coat in the lobby, which I wasn't wearing cause it was nice out. So we finally stop riding, me and male friend 1 find out that the other 2 moved my car while we were riding to a closer spot. I didn't think anything of this. Now the very next morning, i get a call from a police officer. I find out my car was witnessed hitting another car sometime around 4-5pm yesterday. He says he's gonna call my mom and talk to her (Since I'm only 17 and the car is under her name). So as soon as he hangs up, I call both my friends who moved my car. Now they swear they didn't hit anything, and I've known them for a long time I can't see them lying to me. Plus it was the FEMALE friend that moved the car. Now here's the witnesses claim. a MALE driver backed up into a parked car with no one in it. The witness then came over and supposedly spoke to the male driver, who then drove off. I'm looking at 1000 dollars fine, a criminal record for fleeing a crime scene, and 5 years removal of my license (I live in Canada). So when i called my friends, the first thing i asked them both before i explained the situation was WHO WAS DRIVING. They both said it was my female friend. Now the witness claims it was a MALE driver who they had spoken with. The only other male driver all day was me. I am over 99% sure I didn't hit anything all day, I am a very responsible driver. If the witness had just reported they saw the accident, and called it in, I would have been baffled, but would have accepted that maybe i did hit something, and bought out the claim. See thats my other option, If I buy out the claim, for a few hundred dollars, I keep my license, and theres no criminal record. But the part that makes the whole situation complete bull**** is apperently the witness came over and SPOKE WITH THE MALE DRIVER, and then the male driver just drove off. No one spoke with me. I just don't understand how this is happening, It's complete and utter bull****. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. The only thing I can think of, maybe a witness struck the parked vehicle, looked around, saw my license plate, and reported it. This seems pretty out there, but the whole situation is pretty baffling. What should i do?
