My answer to that question regarding anything: Not if a scientist can eventually retrieve the lost data on technology or recreate the data that they might have had using the knowledge that they have.
Also, regarding the idea of a robot, they can either be designed to have personal feelings and live for themselves or as robots that simply serve human beings. Humans would reserve the right to choose what they would intend to create robots for because we would create these robots. As for the idea of what would happen to jobs and the economy, that's a good issue that we can debate.
