Hey I found this cool article at my school and was wondering what you guys and gals who smoke or not might think about it...
20 minutes after quitting - Your heart rate drops 12 hours after quitting - Carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal 2 weeks to 3 months - Your heart attack risk begins to drop and your lung funtion begins to improve 1 to 9 months - Your coughing and shortness of breath decrease 1 year - Your added risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's 5 years - Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a non-smokers 10 years - Your lung cancer death rate is about half that of a smoker's and your risk of cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases 15 years - Your risk of coronary heart disese is back to that of a non-smoker's Hope this helps any of you smokers or non-smokers, relatives, etc. I just thought it was interesting and thought that I might share it with you guys. |
