Masta Ace ![]() Masta Ace (born Duval Clear) is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York. Appearing on classic 1988 posse cut, "The Symphony", he garnered notoriety as an unsung asset to the Juice Crew posse, where he released a number of well-respected albums that were nonetheless little-heard outside purist circles. Aesop Rock ![]() Aesop Rock (born Ian Matthias Bavitz, 1976) is a hip hop musician (rapper and producer). Aesop's style blends a varying tone and delivery with lyrics that contain intricate sequences of widely varying imagery, metaphors, puns, absurdism, and pop culture references, while including the occasional touchstones of traditional hip hop storytelling and self-promotion. As a result of this unorthodox style, Aesop has become a controversial rapper among hip hop enthusiasts. RJD2 ![]() RJD2 (born Ramble John "RJ" Krohn on May 27, 1976) is an American hip hop producer, singer and musician. RJD2 was born in Eugene, Oregon, and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He was signed to the Definitive Jux label and has produced tracks for many prominent rappers. However, he has now left Def Jux and has signed with XL Records.[1] Now, I know I've posted this before, but I'm all about this guy so he definitely needs to be stressed. MFDoom ![]() MF DOOM's lyrics are sometimes perceived as eccentric. With an abundant use of polysyllabic rhymes and bizarre metaphors, MF DOOM combines complex syntax with phrasing to create a rhyme flow that is both exhausting and entertaining. His songs commonly lack the typical verse/chorus structure in favor of showcasing extended rhyme schemes and strophic or repeating beats and melodies. Nujabes ![]() Jun Seba (せば じゅん, Seba Jun?) is a Japanese hip-hop music producer and DJ who records under the name Nujabes. Nujabes is an anagram of his first name (Jun) and last name (Seba) spelled backwards and combined. Besides making music, he is also an owner of "T Records" and "Guinness Records" (both record stores in Shibuya, Tokyo), and runs Hyde-Out Productions, an indie record label. He has released two CD albums in Japan, Metaphorical Music in 2003 and Modal Soul in 2005. He has also contributed music to the soundtrack of Samurai Champloo, an anime which blends a setting in feudal Japan with modern anachronisms, especially hip-hop music. Immortal Technique ![]() Felipe Coronel (born February 19, 1978), better known as Immortal Technique, is a hip hop MC and political activist. Most of his lyrics focus on socio-political issues. The views expressed in his lyrics are largely a mixture of left-wing political commentary on issues such as poverty and racism, and conspiracy theories, especially regarding the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks.
