History a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify): Small city b) Did you grow up with a religious family? No. c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small? Small, two parents and me and my sister. d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? Tolerant. e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? A nephew of mine is gay. f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? No, he's cool. g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? Sometimes, but not anymore. 3. Present Time a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Yes. b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) My nephew. c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? Would talk to him about it and act towards him like I always do. d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? My aunt and uncle knew it since my nephew was young so it wasn't that big of a shock. Some people at my school are a bit homophobic but I'd say 80% isn't. 4. Opinions/Deeper thinking a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? It's in the genes. b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else?: Why does it have to be cured? I mean, if they use the bible as an excuse, God created men. They're saying god made mistakes by creating gay people. c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? I'm fine with gay marriages but I'm not sure about adoption. I'd worry about the kid being bullied because he has two dads/mothers. Not saying that gay couples can't raise children though. d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) Religion and culture. e) Why did you choose take this survey? Because I feel like I helped someone. |
