Seriously pretty awesome music though and you really can't go wrong with some of the early Mega Man X series music.

Agreed. The first MMX has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, so I wouldn't be surprised if I end up doing something else from it. The only problem with trying to tackle one of these songs is I end up not wanting to change all that much. ;p

Are they like, recorded? or are they DAWs

You're certainly not the first to ask and you can probably find an answer if you look around, but I'll write everything down with links.

Lead guitar is Shreddage II
Solo wah guitar is RealLPC
Rhythm guitar is also Shreddage II
Drums are all Toontrack products. Mostly The Metal Foundry, I believe.
Horns and synths are reFX Nexus2 and Sytrus.
The basses I use depend on the song. It's either Shreddage Bass or Prominy SR5 (used in this song), Scarbee Pre-Bass (sucks for metal songs but definitely the best bass I have).

Noticed I had an organ in this thing as well, that's either NuBiPlus or AZR3.

adjusted the synth levels so they don't overpower everything.

edit: hahaha the kick and snare are so compressed they're barely audible at all with all the channel fx disabled, I'll adjust the volume sliders a bit and re-render

I actually don't really know much about guitar rig, I just remember a buddy of my older brother's running a Massive channel through it and the output made me want to shed a tear

Nope, I mostly just use the presets which is why Nexus is perfect for me.
