O.o thats long. Just listened to the song. The instrumental part is sick. you should step the instrumental for just time sakes! It would make for a super awesome file!

This song is awesome! Then again, I always love me some progressive metal . I'm not sure how GLoVE is going to feel about this though, considering it's length.

I'm going to scrap Super Coke...in exchange for exactly one Dragonforce song (from The Power Within, object as you will, but I'll try and make this good) and one Instrumental section from a song from A Dramatic Turn of Events.

EDIT: cuts have been made and sent.

a few reviews, i have 7 more files to review as well but i'm a bit sick so won't do more now..

bright lagoon (revision)
some parts of this file are supercool, and it has good length now. really want to accept this, but i feel it needs some touching up, the one problem i have really is that it is a bit hard to follow, the percussion is often pretty subtle and very often there are jumps that seem to only go to the percussion and i don't get what makes a jump and what doesn't. you should try to avoid to make it easier though

measure 1&3 second 16th isn't there. missing 4th
measure 4-12 i feel like it's a bit random what's a jump and what isn't. this is a problem in many parts imo
measure 14&18 missing color note(s) after the 16th jump and perhaps after the 8th jump too

canon rock 2
fun! nice tempo and flow but lots of jumps feel a bit random. needs a harder difficulty with the snare or hi-hat layered in the solos, it won't at all be too hard and it will make it much more challenging and fun!

measure 30 16th missing
measure 36 the 16ths in the end are wrong (think they are 12ths)
measure 55 missing notes before halfway through the measure. i think the last part of it is incorrect a bit too
measure 56 1 missing guitar sound
measure 60 the ascending notes in the beginning are more and faster
measure 64 it's an arpeggio i think it has more notes
measure 72 dunno about those 16ths?
measure 77 dunno about all those freezes
measure 128 the last 16ths are color notes
measure 130 don't think this is completly correct
measure 166-173 this part has a few missing notes here and there and i don't think it's all perfectly on-sync (tedious work though -_-)
measure 190 missing arpeggio notes in the beginning
measure 214 missing note
measure 209 this part feels wrong
measure 219 there's a note on the first 4th
measure 241-242 some missing notes i think

cosmik debris
really cool file haha. would say too easy and boring if it wasn't so unique and had good variation. always liked this song lol

measure 13 more piano notes
measure 19 sometimes when you have this 32nd freeze there are one or more notes there missing, like here
measure 21 i think the freeze is too early here?
measure 40-44 a few parts here should be looked at
measure 72 the 3 32nds at the freeze in the end??
measure 78 the drums can begin earlier

destination relapse
it's pretty simple but would be pretty fun if it was easier to follow and didn't have so many mines. mines in a select few very short parts where they make a cool trick/effect i can appreciate but they should not be used this much and they should never make it this much harder unless it's a really hard simfile to begin with. this file would not be that hard to AAA/close to AAA for many players but they will make you mess up every time and that's just not any fun at all.

measure 5-8 i don't get this part at all
measure 10&11&13&14&15&18&19&22 missing 16th in the end
measure 25-41 i think you should remake this part, it's confusing when it alternates between the percussion and melody like that all the time and when the melody is playing 16ths the percussion is being left out, it's impossible to follow what is going on.
measure 57-63 same here

eater merry
nice it's much more playable and fun now. it's accurately made and good job with the layering. i can tell you spent some time on this one

measure 26-34 it sounds like this section has too much 32nds but it's really hard to make out
measure 35-36 it's constant 16th from halfway through 35 to halfway through 36
overall see it to that all 32nds are correct

measure 57-63 same here
Bright Lagoon
1, 3: removed the 16ths, but I can't find any missing 4ths?
4-12: the really confusing part of stepping this was the fact that the brass and the percussion are both prominent instruments. I tried to make both prominent, but I might have slipped up a bit. I went over the file again, so hopefully the distinction is more clear in my revision.
14, 18: I really can't hear them I went over it really slowly just to make sure, but that part sounds empty. I did rearrange the patterns in both measures, though, and they feel a lot more full now.

Destination Relapse
first of all, I'm not sure if you're referring to the Heavy or the Oni chart. Heavy should have the mines incredibly toned down.
5-8: jumps go to the clapping sounds, 16ths are to the vocal samples. I arranged the patterns to accentuate the samples (hence the little 8th jacks in the middle)
10, 11, etc: fixed
25-41: 25-32 follows only the melody now. I really wanted to keep the entirety of 33-40 intact, though, because it allows for some very interesting 16th rhythms and the buildup in the song is really nice.
57-63: this part follows only the melody now (except for a prominent break in measure 60 that I feel deserves attention).

just sent fixes for both files!

Default Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)

more reviews, still 4 files left to play

St. Alphonzo's pancake breakfast and father O'blivion (WIP)

lol this is actually pretty promising, if it starts becoming too easy later on you should for sure cut the song though. but it was a lot cooler than i thought it would be

endlessstation

fun but not all too special and the mines ruin the replay-value imo. this one has a ton of potential though. here and there there are 16ths that are actually gallops (prob 24ths i dunno) and would make the file a lot more interesting and varied if stepped that way. and i see that you're stepping the percussion-bursts as freezes but i would in many cases make them color note bursts to make the file harder, in many places i don't think it would turn out too hard or stupid, you should experiment a bit with this, especially later on in the file.

measure 4. the mines should go i understand the trick but it's gay to play, just not having arrows there will have the same effect.
measure 10. same here i get the trick but it ruins the flow of playing
meausre 14&24 don't think those mines are necessary
measure 13 missing 32nd at the end
measure 22, missing notes?
measure 30 don't like those mines either
measure 32 not all the notes before the freezes are 16ths, there's some cool gallop action going on
measure 33 the second minifreeze could simply be put as 3 16ths
measure 36 the drums are doing some gallop rhythms here, might be too stupid if added but it could also be really cool
measure 40&42 unnecessary mines imo
measure 47-54 it's a bit confusing, if the 8ths are to that prominent synth sound there are notes missing, and it's suddenly replaced by percussion sometimes
measure 55-59 i think the minijackarrows before the freezes should be made non-freezes for convenience but this is up to you
measure 60&63&66&69 i think it's constant 16ths in the section that has some? shouldn't all of the 4ths also be a jumps?
measure 60-70 i think there are some minor percussion sounds here and there left out that could put an arrow before a few 4ths
measure 80-83 i wouldn't leave the percussion notes out when there are freezes but this is about stepping style, do as you like
measure 72&93 unnecessary mines imo
measure 91 it's alright but i would step the percussion gallops for sure!
measure 97 i think the freezes should be stepped as color notes (32nds?)
measure 94&100&106&118 the first one's are not straight 16ths but gallops
measure 99 really don't like those mines :P, also think there's one more 16th before measure 100
mesaure 102, gallop in the beginning
measure 105&110&108 unnecessary mines once again :P
measure 111 i would make the freezes a burst
measure 112 the first 3-16ths is a gallop
measure 116 remove the first 3 mines and keep the next 3 perhaps
measure 117 don't like the mines once again
measure 126 gallops
measure 130 some gallops
measure 135 a burst instead of freezse might work here too
measure 136 gallops
meausre 140 once again at least take out the first 3 mines!
measure 141&143&144&145&149&151&152&153&159&160 dun like dem mines
measure 149 missing 16th after the 8th jump
measure 150-160 i would for sure like the freezes to be stepped as bursts when they could be and a lot less mines

Might send a file I released in a personal pack and a file I intented to send to FFR (hi AJ).
Also trying to finish Alphonzo's, but it's a bit repetitive at the part right after the cut of the WIP.

Btw thanks for liking Cosmik Debris, it was hard to keep the slow parts even remotely interesting, blues doesn't exactly make tricky files. Gonna compare comments to the file later.

Edit: Sent finished zappa and FFR-intended file. Not sending released file bcz itz alrdy released n shit.

Hey GLoVE - I've been doing a lot of fixing up of Oblivion. Did you ever say what you wanted me to do with that color explosion? I may have missed it.

edit: nvm found it and I think I fixed it

Quote:
m55: the melody might actually be playing some consecutive notes here but not in the way that you have it. sounds like the 2 first 16ths are consecutive then it's descending notes or smth like that
In these patterns, I took an expressive liberty. The jacks are because of the harsh way the drum hits (this is a big part of my stepping style, assuming you haven't played my files), but I didn't want to make every one of the sounds jumps to reduce clutter. There were some miscellaneous errors I fixed up in this section, regardless.
Quote:
m58: obvious missing melody 16ths right before the beginning of this measure
This is on purpose because I didn't want a minijack leading into that hand. I also left them out because it felt like a "transition point" between that section and the long screeching guitar note. (Hard to explain what I mean)
Quote:
m64: one missing 16th going to the piano before the freeze
wat

---

Anything not mentioned was fixed, or at least should be

Not sure if this has been asked/answered yet, but will the difficulty ratings follow those of the more recent packs? It's a lot easier to not only tell what I can play, but help others find songs that they can play when there's a standard difficulty rating.

as much as people want to be nostalgic, this is important. nps+FF is a much better system than the ENTIRELY subjective "keyboard" rating that was used back during the conception of the original two ODIpacks. this is obviously up to GLoVE, but I highly encourage this. if GLoVE needs more info on nps+FF i can supply it and go into more depth on why it's superior to the arbitrary 10-15 ratings of older kb files.

FudgeFactor™ is the subjective aspcect of the nps rating system. a file with a shitton of hard 16th jacks would have the same nps rating if those 16ths were, say, stream instead. that's why fudgefactor has to exist
