Discuss. I think it looks pretty cool, and the Fire and Grass starters look tight. Frog thing looks lame. Also nice to see they're finally updating how fights are animated and the exploring experience. EDIT: Sorry I forgot we had a gaming section for a minute* Move please

Fire thing is epic. Want.
But... Might not buy. If they did those graphics and whatnot to remake red/blue then I might buy... What they should do is make a pokemon game thats a different story then ash/red or whoevers (from the classics) but during the same time in history, that might intertwine with the red's storyline. (If that made sense) haha

Sadly, this looks like a Nintendo DS title ported onto 3DS. sigh. (except integration of 3D effect and perhaps some of the effects shown off)
I am kinda glad I sold my 3DS. I just expected so much more, personally, and don't like the direction they took with this game design. Obviously the gameplay should remain excellent, which is the most important core feature of the series but I feel Pokemon is running out of things to keep it fresh. Perhaps, some gameplay changes will be announced in the feature, but for a cinematic trailer it has certainly failed me. Quote:

+1 for a new Pokemon title, -1 however for a cinematic trailer that didn't really show off progress from previous titles.
Granted, it's tough to having to keep on coming up with different ways to make the core gameplay fresh, but as it is right now, the cinematic didn't really give me any vibe except a "we get it" feel. Also, I predict much love for the new fire type. |

tbh nintendo hasn't done any serious experimentation with any of their franchises since the gamecube era (colosseum/xd anyone?) so eh, can't expect anything more than the usual 3 or 4 new gimmicks
the starters seem like an upgrade from last gen's, but since the evos ruined all of the potential of gen 5's starters we'll have to see what happens when the game actually comes out i love what they did to the battle screen, it looks like they completed the transition to stadium-esque battles that they began last gen the overworld... eh. as with gen 5 it seems like they're using over-the-top scenery to force 3d, which for pokemon is impressive i guess but there could be a lot more done with more minimal landscapes. also the player models are weird i think the legendaries are a HUGE step up. i may not especially LIKE the deer design, but it's a nice change of pace from recent gens (plus it gives me a HUGE false hope that they might go back to the "legendaries are just really powerful mons that you can catch as a bonus" idea from the first two gens) still probably not buying though because 3ds

Would be nice if they didn't just stick to cave/desert/snowing fields this time. Distortion world or whatever it was has easily been the best area of the game series so far, will be interesting to see if they can top that.

... I'm not the only one who had a gasm over the design of the Fire starter am I.. ahahaha..
But really this game is pushing it way too far. I'd rather they didn't try to make a new title every year. If they could just take all their awesome ideas over like 2-3 years and put them in ONE game it would be epic. |

the ONLY thing that's making it seem like this game is coming out really fast is that there's no delay between the japanese and english versions this time
black and white were released in japan in september 2010, meaning that the time between this generation and the last one is a bit over 3 years, same as with the first two gens actually, in the us, the time between r/b and g/s coming out was less than two years

i imagine with the shortness of time between BW/BW2 and XY there will be a pretty sizable gap before gen 7 (or maybe a RSE remake which would be cool). anyway i basically agree with lurker on everything, though i personally would rank the 3D aspect + stadiumesque battling as much more/better than a new gimmick. it's something i've been waiting for forever
on another note, i'm not getting a damn 3DS ever and this will probably lag horrendously on an emulator rip

I want my colosseum/XD followup, if only because the people felt like people. I hope this gen isn't too rushed.

Am I the only one who isn't excited at all and I love Pokemon?
Too many Pokemon now... and the starters look dumb once again. I wish Nintendo would just put forth their attention in creating a Wii (or Wiiu) 3-d RPG Battle type adventure pokemon game that follows the cartoon storyline or the games. Now that would be amazing to see the pokemon world in the eyes of Ash. |

Wow, everyone in this thread bashing the video, geez. Just realize that they can only squeeze so much into a minute and a half time frame. Also, remember, they have to appeal to a wide audience. I'm sure you all remember playing pokemon as a kid. Well, there are still young kids in this day and age too and they still have to appeal to them and I'm sure the video is pretty convincing at least with that age group (throwing in a cute Pikachu that breaks the 4th wall, flashing lights, more of a 3d-esque look, all enough to make a young kid say "wowzers! this looks awesome!") Also, nowhere in the video did they say that they are going to keep all the other aspects of the game the same with zero changes or experimentation, the video is inconclusive evidence about whether that is true or not and I don't see any reason to assume they are going to keep everything else the same either. The game is still several months away, I'm sure they'll release more information on changes in game mechanics and features and other things as that time approaches and perhaps they'll work on additional trailers that'll appeal more to the older age group of older-teens and young adults.
I do admit though, that fire starter looks pretty sick, don't really care for the other two. |

When they're done with making new instalments to the franchise (read: never) they should totally do one where you get to visit all the regions one by one
