I'm sure that stuff is available somewhere publicly, or at least they received the information legally. I don't know the square footage of my home, or the size of my yard.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong though, that's a little off-putting.

there are websites that have this information for almost all addresses. i forget the website, but i remember Whorli looking up all the houses either one of us has lived in so that we could view the aprox value of the house as well as the stats.

also, i'm sure you could use google earth/maps and some image recognition algorithms to calculate stories, acreage, and square footage.

Edit: https://www.intelius.com/ holds a lot of information, maybe they supply a lot of companies with the background checks like Ebay and whatnot.
