You just like to disagree with me. [EDIT] THIS STATEMENT = JOKE OMG [/EDIT]
But.. there are instances where tiny things are reminiscent of someone gone, and instances where someone is JUST LIKE someone gone. Eh. Whatever. I said it was incoherent. |

It has nothing to do with wanting do disagree, I find something I think to be a flaw and bring it up.. I'm just telling you how I see it.

i believe that on of the religions that panda is talking about is Buddhism, where they use the caste system to associate your level of status in society and how many times you've been reincarnated.

Sleepless, I think it's Hinduism. Buddhism isn't really much of a religion, it's more of a set of good ideas.

o your rite, i apologize. this is why i suck at history class, memory is like a toilet.
to extend the topic, i have mixed feelings about reincarnation. i suppose that it is reassuring to know that i may hav a second chance at life, but then again another side of me feels that once i die i will simply black out and never wake up again. or i have a sensation of floating above my body, while my subconscious permanetly takes control of my existence, or something like that. |

Cypher, I'm rather certain it is Buddhism. Though many say it's just a way to live your life, it's still a religion with its own dogma and practices.

My main consideration when I think about reincarnation is memory, once you die, i believe that you'r brain stops functioning and you forget everything in your life, it may be possible for you soul, itf it exists, to transfer into a new child, but theres no way to prove or disprove it, it's just a notion that people have in their heads.
Panda, interesting idea but I'm pretty sure out personalities are derived from how we're raised, if you live a stressful life as a child you could be into goth like stuff, if you are constantly encouraged to keep your mouth shut as a small child you could grow up a very quiet person, etc etc.... So basically, the only thing that really determines who you are is what you've been through. Buddhism consists of giving up all worldly possessions and all desires, living off of the good will of other people and seeking enlightenment and trying to reach a sort of nirvana with your "aura" I think that buddhism is an interesting perspective because it focusses on the human mind and your thoughts and desires, trying to reach a peace within yourself. I dont know if they believe in reincarnation in that sense in buddhism, I think it's hinduism... The most fun thing about incoherent thoughts in trying to make other people have incoherent thoughts =)

abandonsofa, science can't really do anything when it comes to the unknown.... its all theorys, whatever you were tring to say is theorys just like religions
my jewesh cuz says that when we die we all go to hell because hell is the earth under us, she then says that once god locks away the devil we are all live again in a perfect world helped by god and the devil doesn't exist in us anymore.....this will go on for 1000yrs. then god will release the devil and if we then follow his ways then, we can not be forgiven and when those who followed the devil die, they will be given to the devil for his evil or torture.......so in a way reincarnation does exist because they do infact get reserected, but my cousin doesn't like that word my christian mom says, when we die and if we never accept jesus christ or ask for forgiveness because of our sins, when we are judged we'll probable go to hell for eternal torture, that is all. there are no people reliving there life unless god sends them out to do it because only he has the power most scientists believe its a never ending subject that will lead you to nothing, all there is to do is wait till you die, but until then you do what you have to do to live..... i couldn't agree more with this, people believe what they want to... feel happy, we can't change that fact. the thing in were someones over us and can change our paths or that we'll live again and know what to do next time, whatever, however, it doesn't matter somehow it brings joy to some people for whatever reason to believe and hold.

Yes, buddhism is when you try to acheive nirvana through good deeds and unselfishness. Hinduism is different then buddhism, though. It requires achieveing moksha, which is basically like nirvana, where you understand all. The difference is though that in Buddhism anyone can achieve nirvana, while in Hinduism, you can only achieve moksha if your an upperclass person, if not, you would have to be good and respectful in your own class, and hope your good deeds would be rewarded by being reincarnated as a higher class. This is why they had a caste system.
Personaly, i think people discussing over this is pointless because we will never know a true answer. |

Buddhism is an impossible religion, and Hinduism is retarded I mean all you have to do is die in this one town and you automatically obtain "nirvana". I don't beleive in reincarnation. Reincarnation is for sorry saps to don't want to leave behind material posessions. Besides just think about it I wouldnt want to be reincarnated because I doubt you'll have as much of a kick ass time being a badger as you did when you were human.
I know that someone will probably not like this and quote me or flame me. |

Stuff like what MelodicTrance posted give Christians a terribly bad name. Yes, some think like that, but they're idiots. Now I know I'm not the only Christian here, and I'm sure other people read about all these atheists and get upset. Seriously guys, find a religion of some sort. I bet you'll read this and scoff at it, but Christianity makes sense to me, and as a Christian, I must urge you to be one as well. After all, what have you got to lose? Then again, you can't believe on something like that. But seriously, find faith somehow.
Anywho, obviously I don't believe in reincarnation. If I did, I wouldn't believe in retaining memories. Memories are stored in your brain, that is all. Then again, things like this can't really be proven, so yeah, I don't know XD.

--MelodicTrance dont dis other peoples religeons. anyway, I can't believe that someone would try to brainwash kids like that(is this site a joke?) not all christians are like that. As for the topic, i believe in evolution. to me, it makes the most sence so i don't believe in any of that reincarnation stuff. I think that when you die, you die. that's that. you dont turn in to a caterpillar or anything. By the way MelodicTrance, i think your sig. is annoying(i hate sigs that move). |

A note: To be Catholic Christian, one can believe in Evolution, infact it is neccessary, for the bible is not to be taken literally, but contextually.

ahhh....I am enlightened now hehehe
what i believe is there was a molecule or whatever and then there were two molecules... then they made people and stuff and they evolved. i don't think there is a god(s) . just some stuff evolved into people. But contradicting myself, if this is so, this would lead to the big question-->What is the meaning of life?<-- i think evolution makes the most sence but if we evolved, what would our purpose be? it would just be coincedence. or, we could be a farm planet where every billion years aliens come and harvest us and eat us. Dont say it because i know i don't make sence sometimes... |
