I play with my right hand; three fingers, and mostly Standard-Very Difficult songs. Yes, they are getting much harder, but that is only to be expected. Doing Up-Downs are not as difficult now as before (getting used to it) but staircases are much, much harder then ever before. I was thinking of trying another way to play, however, after trying a spread I decided I like one-handed better. It's a lot more challenging for me, and I'm not one to back down from challenges so easily. XD
nya~!

Very Grave Indeed

Handicaps != Challenges
I mean, deciding to use two feet to play DDR instead of one isn't "backing down from a challenge" its "Deciding to play in a way that lets me get to the real and intended challenges" If you have the coordination and speed to play FFR and develop skills beyond those of the casual gamer, the challenge is supposed to be the, you know, challenging songs. I mean, I guess if you play in a way that makes 8/12s "hard" you can spend more time beating your head against the wall of skill development than someone who plays spread, finds 8s easy, and gets their challenge trying to improve scores on the 11s and 12s. All that ends up meaning is that you'll have to be able to be content with your accomplishments, having high scores on songs that most of the two-hand players have already beaten, bypassed and moved on from. |

i can only play one-handed, but as you can tell, i'm not that great.
i just started playing recently, and i'm trying, before i realized you shouldn't play with one hand. u.u ~Sunny. |

I started playing with one hand when i first discovered FFR (Wow it's hard on your middle finger...). So I looked for a hand position that wasn't as difficult on my middle finger, and then I wound up with two hands, four fingers.

one hand can take you a BIT further than index, but nowhere near what you can do on spread.
PS don't tell me i'm wrong because I played for one year on my old account one handed. Oh, and soulston played one handed before too. |

If I thought there was a defined limit to skill one handed, I'd have switched a year ago. ^.^

There is no actual correct way of playing, though. There's no place in the game or on the site where it tells you which style to use. I'd rather pick a style with higher efficiency, potential, and rate of improvement, though. (also a style where I actually had a chance to be elite) In Guitar Hero, the style of play is explicit, unlike here. |
