To all the pro players...

Just a little something I was wondering...

When you started FFR, was there ever a point in time where you looked at songs such as Vertex BETA and you thought to yourself, "Man, **** this, I'll never be able to get those streams right" and then after a while you were able to do them?

Because that's what I'm feeling right now. :S I feel like I'll never be able to keep up with those keys no matter how hard I keep trying. D:

Is it just me? Or did anyone else ever feel like this? I know when I started I said to myself I'd never do bits like the end of Games We Played Part 5, and now I'm easily passing that. But streams like Vertex BETA and Pants... GAWD!!! I really think I'm a lost cause.

Should I not think this? Do you guys think I'll get better with time? That'll I'll one day try Vertex BETA again and go "HEY! OMG I'm doing it alright!"?

I used to feel like that. As a matter of fact, I still do on some songs.
You will get better with time. I know it sounds repetitive, but just keep practicing.

I'm not pro but... Yes, I definitely felt that way when I first started playing. But after three weeks of pretty hardcore practice, I started getting better and eventually got to the point where I am now. I wouldn't say thinking that way is a bad thing, but don't discourage yourself and just keep playing.

yeah.. i did too.. like when i barely started FFR the first song i tried was FOTBB.. and when i saw it i was like WOOOOW.. but then with time i was able to pass it.. but it takes time to get really good..

Well yes, I will keep playing. xP But I'm scared I'll just be able to do the things I'm doing now forever. Like, the hardest I can handle now are the arrows in CIA Rave and I'm like, "Yeah I guess I can FC this if I keep trying" but that doesn't mean I'll suddenly start doing streams. D: I can't even BEGIN to do them. I just kinda mash. xP Which is why I think I'll never get to them.

Back before speedmods came out, I was like, holy ****, Gradeus is such a hard song. It's so fast and I can't even combo any parts of it. Now it's like lol streemz

I'm no pro, but if you're asking if you'll be able to one day do that stuff, then yes, if you play enough.

From experience, I've found that the tougher songs you force yourself into, the easier they eventually become. Just stick with whatever keyboard setup you have, and practice; that's all there really is to it.

I remember looking at Vertex BETA and freaking out, lol. Now I can FC it consistantly.

Pants....is another story, hahahaha. Eventually I'll get it. XD

I'm not pro either but yeah I felt the same way. When I first started playing, I tried to get Dazzling Destiny, but I couldn't FC Dazzling Soul. Now I got the FC after a couple months.

Just keep playing & you will get better over time.

i thought the same when playing songs like blaze and rose. i couldnt fc for awhile because my fingers couldnt keep up. now i can fc them easily. vertex beta is a little faster, but after a bit of practicing i think ill be able to hit the streams easy.

Exactly.

Lol, I thought a 70 something combo on it was special. Now I can FC it easy (when I hit the jacks at least >_<)

Back when I started, I looked at some (now) VD songs and was awestruck at the arrows. now I AAA them.

When I first started, I thought I would never get by on Visions without mashing and getting 200-ish boos. Now I can nearly AAA it. I just needed to go back to songs where I could pass without mashing at all and gradually play harder songs.

Play songs that are slightly beyond your reach. Songs where you think "I clearly can see patterns in the arrows, but my fingers are just under the speed I need." It's a slow, gradual process, but it's useful.

I use to look at Computer Dreams and say to myself, "Holy **** I'm never going to be able to do this, it is impossible!" But then after whoring it a couple thousand times and mashing the keys until my fingers bled I got to the end. During the time it took me to get through it though I was late on the rent and got kicked out of the house, my girlfriend left me and I forgot to feed my dog and he starved to death.

Yeah, it happens to everyone. I remember when I used to think Quasar was the hardest song ever. Also, I thought Legend of Max Heavy was almost impossible to read on DDR. (150 BPM stream) I couldn't believe people were getting less than 10 greats on those songs.

Any time I ever looked at a song and thought "I'll never be able to do this," I always looked at a pro player AAAing the song and knew that it had to be possible somehow.
