I have AVG. I said I was getting it in my last post. I got it. Spy-Bot and Ad-Aware aren't antivirus. I don't know the other two but it really doesn't even look like I have to know.
ANTI JUST GET IN HERE. Tell me how to block windows media player from accessing the 'net. Now.
I wish people on this site would quit acting like Anti is the only one that knows anything about computers.
Windows Media Player>Tools>Options. Click on the Player tab. Deselect the box that says Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands). There you go.
I ask anti because I know it's not some option in WMP I need to deselect. It's something I need to configure on my router to block access or attain some unknown program that will do it for me.
Something like that.
I wish the problem were that easy though. Alas, it was unchecked already.
I solved the problem already - thanks to talisman for the ZA comment - and I mentioned before the specifics.
How could it have been a dead cable modem if I could still load half a page and play an MMORPG?! I knew it had to be limiting my bandwith somehow, so I ran TCPView to see what was outgoing and incoming through my network and happened to notice Avast had about 15 different webclients running. And later, I noticed Media Player had 7 as well, which I promptly blocked.
