I loved my undergrad Information Systems class. I imagine the graduate level course would be even better.

I have thought about going back to do my Master's in Accounting, but right now I'm working in underwriting and really enjoying it.

How the IS course is structured is the same as how this professor teaches his undergraduate course. Which works pretty well for online/on campus mixed courses, but there is very little hands on material.

First week of grad school I hated because it felt completely different and just seemed weird. But it's actually enjoyable and I like it a lot. If you really want to go back to school, or just want your 150 to sit for the CPA exam, I would so far recommend it.

Linear Algebra (MATH235) seems to be my only skippable course this semester but that's no class Tuesday or Thursday so hooray.

Then I have something called Power (POLISCI235), American Political Thought (POLISCI203) and Intermediate Macroeconomics (ECON204). Adds up to 14 credits.

Youre only skimping yourself if u skip one of the best math classes provided for undergrads imo

I enjoyed data structures kommi. We used C++. What language is your class taught in?

I forgot to register this semester cuz my work life has been ~~iNSaNE~~

Ive been tutoring this kid on trigonometry via xbox live headset lately. Thats been fun.

I'm taking both those classes in the following semesters actually (linear algebra + intermediate macroeconomics)

we're taught in Java atm, but doing software development in assembly/C/Unix. The classes that apparently make or break your degree here are

-Discrete Mathematics
-Algorithms II
-Assembly Language
-Operating Systems

except I'm really digging the first algorithms class rn but I also have a prof who's hype as FUCK about everything he teaches so that might be it.

also @Celirra what I love about universities that offer software engineering as a degree is that there are such cool classes offered that we don't get. Our program literally combines comp sci and soft eng together but a lot of more engineering courses are restricted to computer/electrical engineering.

is that "make or break" mainly as in, these are hard make sure you pass these?

if that was more "this is the core of what you learn" instead, assembly and operating systems for a pure CS degree sounds weird. granted, I'm kinda talking out of my ass here, but idk.

(also, glad to hear you're doing well and enjoying it dude!)

Both are pretty standard assuming assembly is introduced in the context of computer architecture in general.

oh i meant they're the hardest in the degree, and they're all core required courses.

in summer 2019 I'm doing a community outreach project class (developing software for a non-profit) and it's "free labor" but at least it's for a charitable cause so it counts as a course credit, volunteer work, and work experience all in one.

how triggered r u dossar im doin free work

Late AF reply, but pretty much EVERY math class at this fuggin school has the exact same "attendance not mandatory" policy because the professors know damn well they can't teach this shit (well, at least most of them). Seriously, nice dudes all around but most can't even speak loud enough for the class, they give no examples and they teach like a full chapter ahead of the homework, even teaching past upcoming test subjects sometimes.

MyMathLab is a sufficient enough teacher.

Oh yeah and I changed my MATH235 from Tues-Thurs to a MoWeFri one that weights homework higher. So now I LITERALLY have no classes on Tuesday and Thursday.

The plus side:
- You get to learn about user stories, AGILE methodologies in software development, technical documentation, and practice all of these with a team.

The down side:
- Free labor and you get no compensation for all your hard work.

You can probably tell I'm glad to no longer be a student, haha.

It's early to say, but it's similar in style: we'll be working on a project for a client, but we have no idea what the project actually entails yet. Thus far, it's mostly just standard lectures then (we're only two lectures in yet), essentially discussing the software development process and UML.

The client project likely won't be covered until next semester, too; 3352 has two strands, us Software Engineering students, and Computer Engineering students. Next semester, in (I think) 3351 it's just software engineering, and that's where the bulk of the client project takes place. As such, the prof doesn't really want to cater significant time to only half of the class as of now.

For us, the top three teams of 5 get $5000 per team. So it's not that bad!
