Kagamine Rin - Meltdown (simfile)
I tried to follow all the guides (like duckys) and read up on how to do layering and stuff so i tried my hand at a file myself :P its meant for 2 fingers since i know alot of you play with 4 so it might be a little easy XD id like some comments though since i worked really hard on this and know what to do for future songs. thanks!

I will dl a give a look at this. EDIT: nazi review: 1- Background and banner make the file more cool 2- ducky's step are more hard that this 3- difficulties is to easy for what you make on step 4- i did not look on editor and i did not use rate, but the file look sync 5- use PNG type for yours cd-titles 6- for a beginner its a good start cote: 3/10 finaly , dont step a song if you dont think you will complete. you lose yours time for nothing. keep trying

Re: Kagamine Rin - Meltdown (simfile)
oh png for transparency? yeah i should have thought of that ;_; i stepped the song till i wanted it to stop. it felt better to make 2 minutes instead of 5 so really its not that i stopped halfway haha. i know its easy but as i get better my songs will become harder too :P thanks for the review though

Re: Kagamine Rin - Meltdown (simfile)
Here's an idea: For the sets of three triplets in the beginning of the file, the third one has an extra instrument on top of it...you can signify this by giving it a different pattern (like one that repeats the first note on the third) every time it comes up.
Another thing you could think about doing is, for the sets of seven 8ths, make the last two notes of a minijack (i.e. on the same column), because of that melodic instrument that plays the same pitch twice in a row there. (In fact, if you do this it will link back nicely to the first suggestion, since that same instrument plays over the course of the third triplet...if you step it with the first and third column matching up, you've done the same thing both times!) The beat at second 41.35: you missed a 16th note right before this to the vocals. For an index file it's very rationally stepped; nothing is gratuitous. On the other hand it feels a bit samey, which is partially a fault of the song but as you step more and more songs you'll think about ways to utilize different patterns and placements to signify different parts of a song as they change. If this is your first file, keep it up

Not really those specific examples but more the whole mindset of making every pattern count.*
*Well, not -every- pattern but whenever possible and feasible

Re: Kagamine Rin - Meltdown (simfile)
oh check this file out.
http://www.bemanistyle.com/sims/simfile.php?id=10400 play the edit chart, kilga's b.b. evolution. still really cool, there's not much I'd change about it (there's this one part with quiet 16th triplets to the percussion kilga didn't step and I don't know if it would be better to add them or not)

go away djr rap dancer!!! you do not belong here.
they're actually quite subtle and may or may not flow well with what is effectively a solo

Re: Kagamine Rin - Meltdown (simfile)
ah ok. I picked it because it has lots of ways in which layering or specific patterns are used for emphasis, without resorting to complicated layering
a good way to find songs to step is actually to look at what artists have been stepped in packs, find more songs by them and pick through them. also you can look at OSTs of your favourite video games. or just filch songs off other steppers
