What is your go-to album or albums?
I'm talking about the shit you listen to when nothing else will do the trick. You've listened to this album 86 times and counting, it's always there to fall back on in your time of musical need.
My two are: Converting Vegetarians II by Infected Mushroom The Black Parade by MCR

Re: What is your go-to album or albums?
tbh I still haven't heard the black parade, even tho recently it seems like a lot of people have started considering it a classic? maybe not recently but from what I've seen, people are starting to appreciate it more and more.
celer - discourses of the withered autechre - confield william basinski - melancholia all 10/10s imo. discourses of the withered is celer's best work and one of the best drone albums, period. confield is idm at it's most potent and progressive. and melancholia has some really great memories associated with it. Re: What is your go-to album or albums?
alphabetical order:
36 - Memories in Widescreen Alva Noto - Xerrox Vol. 3 Bark Psychosis - Hex Belong - October Language Celer - Discourses of the Withered Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love Is a Stream Steve Roach - Darkest Before Dawn Totorro - All Glory to John Baltor Robert Rich - Somnium William Basinski - A Red Score in Tile William Basinski - Melancholia Yodaka - Betrayal and Reincarnation I get alienated really easily, so a lot of the albums listed feel lonely, melancholic, or meditative to some degree. The only album that wouldn't fit the aforementioned three descriptors is Hex, and Hex, to me, is the prettiest album that I've listened to. I usually listen to it in the afternoon when I don't feel too bad. I used to listen to a few other albums regularly too (Kashiwa Daisuke's 88 and Program Music I, 2814's Birth of a New Day), but I don't listen to them anywhere as often as I used to these days. edit: nice picks choof Last edited by EzExZeRo7497; 09-30-2019 at 11:12 AM.. |

My go-to changes with the wind these days but I would go with Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92. It's sort of like a musical ground state for me, like visiting an old comforting friend.

I haven't listened to "an album" since there started being ways to get songs besides buying the cassette or cd

Re: What is your go-to album or albums?
My two are both "listen to these songs in order or else you're a bastard" albums, so it's basically like a 2 hour song when I listen to them.

Re: What is your go-to album or albums?
the only excuse to not be listening exclusively to full albums in order is if you are listening to classical/jazz or dance music.
otherwise you arent actually listening to music and your brain is just pretending to hear sounds that arent actually entering your ears correctly |

Re: What is your go-to album or albums?
My work day consists of several 30+ minute drives, so I get full album listens in often. Here's several I've listened to a couple times in the last 2 weeks in no order.
The Inheritors - James Holden Koda Vista - Joywave L.O.W. - Jan Roth Head Hunters - Herbie Hancock Jessica Rabbit - Sleigh bells Tres hombres - ZZ Top Wavering Radiant - Isis Twoism - Boards of Canada Canto Ostinato for two pianos and two marimbas - Simeon ten Holt Last edited by axith; 09-30-2019 at 06:05 PM.. |

Re: What is your go-to album or albums?
I guess I did buy the album
Snarky Puppy - We Like It Here At a concert, but I still end up youtubing individual tracks when I want to listen to one. I otherwise don't think I've -owned- in any form, a full album of -anything- since I was a teenager. I think "warrant" isn't the right word to use here. Are probably the two I'd pick before most anything else. |
