Curious as to what the community thinks about this. Please vote honestly.
TWG = The Werewolf Game In my opinion, the forum should be made private since users playing the game should be able to go to TWG forum and find the stickied (Active Game) thread right away, which is much easier than hunting for it on the front page anyway. It also would unclutter the front page in the times when there are two or three active games going at the same time (like now). I've never played TWG so I don't know if it's important to have these threads public, so I'd like to hear from some people who play the game for the other side of the argument.

You can tell what threads are TWG threads or not, if you don't want to look at them, don't click on them.

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=137303 http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=137321 http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=137320 4 recent examples of ambiguous threads that are strictly TWG related. Not my point anyway. My point is that TWG threads are constantly being bumped and hogging the recent threads column. Especially with a 4-line thread title such as "TWG CXV - SAKURA HEART OF THE CARDCAPTOR, TEXAS YUGIHOLD'em. GOTTA BLUFF EM ALL."

It's important to keep 'em public. Otherwise, no new people would join.

TWG is a good chunk of the FFR forums, and a lot of active posters play there. Removing it off the front page would be a mistake.
Also, in regards to the clutter you said with the four topics above, you have a solid point. Perhaps there should be a 'General Suggestions / Concerns' thread that holds all these together. I'd like to see that happen honestly.

At least include [TWG] tag or something

you could include a TWG tag sure, but honestly most of those threads are just fiction threads, including the one charu made, its a direct c/p of a thread fiction made earlier. Take it up with him. I think that it really shouldn't matter to me; I hardly see them "hogging" the front page, and even if they did I still don't think it would matter to me very much.
People should see all the parts of the site that they want to, and I see no reason to make TWG private. |

All TWG games are required to have TWG #: (Game Name)/(Signup)/(Postgame) in the title. Once a 'general idea / suggestion' thread is created (which will include TWG in the front) then all problems should be fixed imo.
I'll go ahead and create the thread now, and try to get it stickied n what not.

There's 3 birthday threads in here. That's 10% and they are hogging the front page and I'm sick of seeing them. They should be removed from front page. |

birthday threads are something that 100% of the community can be involved in without having to learn a [complicated] set of technical and social rules.

A bunch of those threads probably are the result in the change in how the forum operates. We've recently changed the forum to run more like a TWG centered Chit Chat. The game threads are only in the forum while they are being run, and TWG players as well as forum regulars are welcome to make threads discussing TWG, strategies for it and Etc.
The only thing people aren't allowed to do is post comments about games currently being run. Quote:
Games Forum - Spammy Sports Subforum - [complicated] set of technical and social rules that don't interest everyone. 100% of the community could be involved with TWG (we're all inclusive!). But you're right in an aspect. It is a technical and emotional game and not everyone is interested in it. If you're not interested, use the New Posts feature and avoid the forum entierly. (I won't deny that a bunch of the threads you linked were spammy. But what happens when a spammy post is made in chit chat? it's ignored or locked untill it's no longer relevent. I'd suggest treating those threads just like you treat a CC thread that's a waste of time.)

it's not like new threads are bumped every 2 seconds anyway, I objectively don't see it as a big deal at all given forum activity level. don't care either way but really not a problem in my eyes

Saying that [TWG] should be added for TWG area threads is just like saying we should add [FFR R1 Gen], [Chit Chat], etc; if you aren't a TWG player and click a TWG thread with no intentions of reading/playing, hit the back button on your browser and simply make a mental note about the thread existing on the front page. TWG is typically very fast paced and there may undoubtedly be players checking those threads very frequently.
