Life
A simple, yet loaded proposition
Leaves me wondering what to do. "Yes" is harmless; "No" is harmless; Neither answer would change the world. Yet it would change my world. Does standing up for myself -- Standing up against an addiction -- Make the world any better? He will just find a way to get his fix Tomorrow or the next day, And the cycle will repeat itself. Why does it matter nothing positive Ever comes out of it? Why does it matter that it caused His lack of independence? Why wouldn't I bend my will To childish necessity? Saying "no" will not hurt tonight And it will not change tomorrow. But it will make me happier. Isn't that life?

Re: Life
My only critique would be when you end both those lines with "world" right after each other. I understand you are trying to point out the different perspectives, but it just seems awkward to me.
I really like it though, it's nice to see a poem on here that is actually good. |
