11th hour/ gabriel knight 2 not working

Okay, recently i managed to get a hold of the 11th hour and gabriel knight 2 the beast within for the pc. these games are pretty old, and run on DOS. i have been trying to get them to work on a dos box, but the best i can do is get both of the games give me every option on the game screen but the one that lets me play. it will say, read me, quit, and settings, for the 11th hour, and for gabriel knight 2 it will let me load, quit, and settings i think. so i'm stuck and was wondering if anyone had an idea of what to do to get it to work. quick note, i am not well versed in what i am doing, im just messing around as a simple novice with everything, so if i sound naive or dumb, well it's because at the moment i am.
