A Bit of Token Talk
So, this thread is coming about because of the most recent tendency of the people to make new skill tokens as "AntiPA" tokens.
This bothers me. Immensely. Mostly because of a personal preference. Anyways, here is what I am purposing. We need to fix how we are classifying tokens. We have everything all over the place and it's really rather annoying. Let us begin with "General" Tokens. This is how they appear as of right now Here is what I'd like to see. We need to separate these into multiple sections. The sections are as follows with their respective token lists in spoilers: Regular tokens: And now we move on, we move to the section that I feel will require he most discussion. I have a very clear opinion of the differences between "Skill" tokens and "AntiPA" tokens. Even to the degree where I think calling it "AntiSkill" is wrong. But I am going to not bother you with this. Simply put, Skill Tokens need a separation between two main categories. Being their terminology or name is up for discussion, I'm going to use the terms I prefer. Skill Tokens as they are now in listing. As I'd separate them: 1. Skill Tokens Why are some of these here and not in the list below? Any token in this list can be unlocked with a AAA if Memory serves. If it requires a specific count, it is treated as AntiPA. 2. AntiPA Tokens Some of these encourage good PA? No. All of these tokens specifically require a score that cannot be achieved through a AAA. Where as the above list can have a AAA to unlock. Now to the HUGE thing you've been wondering since you opened the thread... Why do we care? I don't know about you, but I am personally really annoyed by the idea that things can be sorted properly, but aren't. This system stops players from being confused. Yes, all of these would require their own page, and a small FAQ note at the top explaining it. I feel this would be very helpful to newer players migrating to the site. Also! While we are on topic of tokens. We should modify this requirement: Token Whore Unlock ST#1-99, then check levelrank.php to unlock Token Whore. 145 people have unlocked skill token 100 Modify it to check for 100 tokens. ANY token should count if possible. Hopefully this is discussed and has a good course of action taken. |

Good suggestions. I'd like to see this happen.

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
I think moving things around like this would help as it's certainly needed.

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
your "Task Tokens" are already classified as Achievement Tokens.

Agreed. This is a ludicrous suggestion.

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
This would be the start of a huge improvement to the gaming part of the community. I'm starting to be bothered by seeing how much the site is stagnating in terms of maintenance. Not technical maintenance, but more like adapting to the standards of the community and newcomers.
I believe this kind of update is valuable to the site and is nowhere a waste of time. I'll beg anyone to do this. |

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
I agree, the system could use some restructuring. It would be a lot clearer that way. I do think anti-PA tokens are a lot more fun than skill tokens, though, because instead of being an "either you can do this or you can't" type thing, you get to try to figure out how to do it and work towards the requirement.
Fourth'd. It should be all other tokens

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
unlocking the first 99 to get Token Whore should stay the same. it's fitting/reasonable.

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
It might be a pain to get all the anti skill tokens if your not good enough but when you finally get token whore it feels good that you finally did it.

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
Seeing as Token Whore was the 100th skill token released, it made sense at the time to make the unlock requirement getting the other 99. Now that there's more being added, I move to have Token Whore unlock be any 99 skill tokens, not 100. This way, Token Whore remains as the 100th get while preventing you from raging too much on the real pain in the ass anti-PA tokens.
Like, seriously, 200 averages? << |

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
I'm pretty indifferent about most of this. The only real issue I have is with how impossibly hard it is to obtain the actual Tokens themselves, since related posts and other locations are buried so much now. It seriously encourages users to cheat the locations using other means... I think this is the biggest concern. The actual Tokens (or forum tokens, w/e you want to call them).

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
Yeah more classification and organization is always great. I agree with most of what has been addressed here, although as for Token Whore:
Seriously, let's do it. It is sort of meant to be the skill token to end all skill tokens, so let's change it up! Obviously once you unlock it whatever if new tokens come out, but at least this way it will always keep with the times in the sense that you are in fact, whoring tokens.

Why not wait till 199 skill tokens and make a Token whore v2 for unlocking 100 -199?

Re: A Bit of Token Talk
That will take forever though, and it would mean the process would have to repeat itself if any more tokens were made.
