A Subscriber News Section and a Non-Subscriber News Section?
After reading this thread (FYI, I'm not against the maker of the thread), I got an idea of having a Subscriber News Section and a Non-Subscriber News Section. This way, non-subscribers (like me) won't get excited for an upcoming release (currently like avmisses, favorites, and that thing that lets you choose a song to play from a drop-down menu) too much, thinking they will get it on a certain date an admin said it will come out on. Because of this, non-subscribers won't know about updates as major like the avmisses until the FFR staff release it to the public, which would make less people ask questions about this. Also, if this is added, there should be a rule that things in the Subscriber News section can't be posted in a place where a non-subscriber can read it to prevent a leakage of information (kinda on-topic, like the confirmations of Jigglypuff, Lucario, and Ness in Brawl) to the public. I don't know how to explain this in pictures, so I hope everyone knows what I am talking about.

Having it where non-members can see what goes on when it goes on is a form of advertising. I doubt The Admins will hide all the goodies away.

I like this idea. Because it would prevent users from seeing new posts and saying "OMG new update lemme see this!" and then seeing its for the subbyers. It would be a dissapointment.
No offense MixMasterLar, but your a subscriber, you wouldnt understand. |

I like this idea, but it'd be even better if they could just keep it all on one page, but have the certain posts only show up on subby accounts. I don't know how easy/hard that would be, though. I think this would be good, though.

It would take a lot of work to make the current news system only show certain posts to certain users. Quite frankly, I don't think it is worth the wasted manpower on a feature like that.

Improvements to FFR are being made, in time they will be released once finished and you dont want to know about them?
Learn to be patient or stop reading the news page?

Would that mean I shouldn't go on flashflashrevolution.com, but flashflashrevolution.com/vbz? Not trying to sound like a dick, and sorry if this might get you mad in any way.

Actually instead of making certain posts available to certain users... Just have the posts viewable by everyone, but in the title, there should be a (subscriber feature) or (public feature) there, so we would know who's update is who's.
That would be the best idea, so the admins wont have to waste trouble with set up so its viewable by certain accounts. The news page is right in front of us when we enter the site... its kind of hard not to read. |

Re: A Subscriber News Section and a Non-Subscriber News Section?
in addition to what MalDON said... it would be more time consuming in terms of writing multiple news stories, having to flag certain ones a certain way... etc etc.
Yes, announcing features is a form of advertising. But, IMO, everyone should be a subscriber in the first place... y'all are getting hours of entertainment a day from our site, and 3.50 a month in terms of a donation isn't that large of a giveback for the enjoyment. Plus, you do get other cool stuff out of it. But that's just me. Also, some stuff is just posted in the subscriber forum, not as a news story.

Re: A Subscriber News Section and a Non-Subscriber News Section?
Actually after thinking about this for a while, I think it would be more likely to have an alert bar appear before the news stories to let subscribers or non subscribers know of important information. This isn't a planned feature so don't think it is. Just saying IF we were to implement something as suggested, it would probably be like so.

Re: A Subscriber News Section and a Non-Subscriber News Section?
it could be just as easy as it is now. just have another area to post news. like now we have tokens, 3rd style, spontaneous contests, this, that, and the other thing(i don't know them all) and when ever someone becomes/depowers to/from a sub, they either see it or don't.

People, if finding out how FFR is being imrpoved is painful then dont visit the forums, profile chat, MP chat, use AIM with FFR users and stay away from the news page.
I know it hurts to know that the game is being improved.

Re: A Subscriber News Section and a Non-Subscriber News Section?
This is probably going to be a bump, but if you are a subscriber, you can now see more detailed updates to FFR. Just visit the homepage and a box will appear with a short update.
This is probably be used mainly for information only regarding subscribers. Thoughts? Suggestions? |
