        If you are putting song titles in any language other than English, make sure (of course) that you have the appropriate language pack installed, and that you save the file in Unicode.

        Use a Unicode text editor like BabelPad.

                        I only use assist tick 'after' I've completed the file to give it a quick runthrough to see if the patterns I've set in place sound correct and on-time. My ears and timing are generally good enough to not need assist tick to sync songs.

                                This is an obnoxiously late bump, but when I have made the new folder with the .mp3 and the new text file, it doesn't register on sm.. It says Toast Of The Century.sm , but right underthat it says "Text File"

                                    When saving a .dwi/.sm in Notepad, change the save format to All Files. Then, add .sm or .dwi.

                                                        This should be bumped regularly. It has pretty much anything you would ever need when learning how to make a simfile. Newbies would benefit greatly.
