Don't listen to Squeek, SoA:L is amazing. And not broken like he suggests. He must mean Skull shield and Delta shield. Both great moves, which do make you invulnerable to magic and physical attacks, but most enemies use specials that get by the shields. Plus, you take out two of your best characters by using them. Why you thought you were set is beyond me.
After two crystals you're not even ready for any of the awesomely awesome side quests.
If there's one thing Skies didn't do, it was get repetitive, which couldn't be said for Tales for me. Sure, it was a great game, but I don't think the replay value is there. I was so pumped after beating it that I started again, but quickly lost interest.
Tons of playtime? Skies'll do it for you. It's not a game that you want to play through multiple times simply because you can do everything the first time through and you WANT to. Bounties? Piastol? DISCOVERIES? Way too fun to pass up.
