EDIT: I hope you pple know that paper mario was a sequal....the original was super mario RPG cuz paper mario still had the seven stars in it. Yes i am right, I know alot of mario but not all.

Paper Mario isn't a sequel to SMRPG. It might share some thematic and gameplay elements, but it was produced by a completely different team and doesn't share any sort of story with SMRPG. At best, it's a pseudo-sequel.

I actually do remember Nintendo referring to it as a sequel, via Nintendo Power, at some time. I'm too lazy to look it up, though.

Paper Mario was not a direct sequel to SMRPG at its release, it was a completely different world on it's own. The only reason people compare the two is because they're both RPGs.

Hell, I've always thought that they just thought a good game idea and went with it never-ever thinking that they were trying to make a continous gaming deal,but , If I had to say something about it it would make sense, because Bowser is always after the princese...I don't think that spell it but... any way he's always after her and dont you think Mario gets tired of rescuing her. I would, but you got to think, She's a blonde, Just how many games involes in rescuing her.

I think it's great! Sure there are a lot of Mario games out, but why? Because Mario (and company) is a well-known and well-loved Nintendo character. I really enjoy seeing all of these Mario games. And besides, does one character make the game excellent or rediculous? Maybe to some people I suppose...but to me it's more of what the game itself is like.

And BTW, I can't wait to buy DDR:Mario mix either! It's going to be awesome!

Well, Super Mario World 2 had Mario trapped in a dream world and he had to collect the 6 Golden Coins to escape, so he's not always after the Princess.
