Howdy folks, I wanna make sure that my thoughts regarding star-crossed get across. It's been the main thing swirling around in my mind so I want to make sure I get those thoughts out before I respond to other things in the thread.

Information to me would include votes obviously, and really any kind of game-related discussion or interactions.

I think the reason I was initially "confused" was because the initial interpretation I had regarding "creating information" was exactly what you describe here, but I thought "that can't possibly be it, that simply amounts to just playing the game". So I was kinda hoping for a different answer and I'm kinda disappointed by this response.

I did have some time to think what else could be meant by "create information" aside from things that basically amount to "playing the game". I think the answer I would have liked better would be something like playing a more "aggressive townie" game. I feel like my townie game tends to be more of an "observer" style where I try to take in everything and then I spew my thoughts and insights (and then sometimes bounce). This can work well in the case that the insights are good, although in a game with so little information that could be considered "ground truth", a game full of just observers might not cut it. There needs to be folks that ask other players questions, poke and prod other players, since such tactics are more likely to give more information and insight.

I will say that when I initially read your post (#43), the vibes were off. Unfortunately, the vibes haven't gotten much better. I can't remember what your usual gameplay is like (e.g. is it typical for you to make such serious, in-depth posts so early on d0?), but regardless, the post is giving "I'm gonna try to appear helpful to get townie points" but looking closely at the post, I would say that the vast majority of it is fluff that isn't particularly helpful (at least to me).

Statistically speaking, at some stage, it will look like the town are thinking and talking about all the wrong things. At those times, it will feel like it is a good game to be a wolf in. Wolves will be able to look smart and look like they are helping, by telling those unfortunate townies who don't already have the answers why they are probably wrong about what they are wrong about. With hindsight, with process of elimination, I think the good times can actually come back to haunt them in the end.

I think some others have already mentioned it, but I also agree with them regarding how I'm not entirely convinced by this last paragraph. I didn't say anything earlier about it because I wanted time to think about it some more, but this last paragraph sounds like something that would be on very long TWG fortune cookie: a craftedly-worded premonition that gives the appearance of imparting some wisdom.



From previous games (forever ago), I remember I'll sometimes have tunnel vision anytime a particular post rubs me the wrong way. I'll need to look more closely at star-crossed's other posts to try to get a better sense of where I stand on this. But I want to make sure I have a record of these feelings before I forget.

Umm, I was going to say more because you are trying to remember how to play,...

I was kinda half-joking regarding forgetting how to play. At the very least, I understand the basics regarding mechanics and such. Of course, I've likely gotten rusty in terms of how to best go about finding wolves and building a mental model of the relationships in the game and stuff, but I think those skills are probably best gained and sharpened by simply playing more of the game and observing the strategies and approaches of others.

I secretly want to vote someone in the bottom 5 posters at EoD just because it would be so easy to coast this game and wait for town to self-destruct.

Ben is a little more engaged than I expected. Fairly neutral on it for now, but it gave me hope for getting an actual read there today.

In some previous games, I had a bad habit of sometimes going inactive, which people would use as a reason to vote me, then I'd try to defend myself right before EoD, and it would cause a big mess. Trying to prevent that from happening again 😅 I'm hoping the novelty of having not played a game for a while will last me long enough to stay motivated and to be decently active throughout the entire game.

I wish I could get them to swap my name to Kaho lol but if I recall name changes are ass to do, and didn't wanna bother them.

Name changes these days are a lot easier nowadays. Velocity was able to get mine done in like less than 10 minutes.

The "i just wanted to get these thoughts out before I forget" line just reads genuine, I recall a time on another forum where no one really understood what I was talking about townreading some dude with a Peter Griffin avatar fir something similar

I think I like this (and similar) posts from Raeko. I feel like this kind of line is something that would capture a lot of people's attention, and I feel like it's the kind of attention that a wolf wouldn't want, so I can't imagine a wolf saying something like this.
