Roughly 40% done the project now. Have another long-post of changes, additions and removals. I do not plan on adding any of these v9 update posts to the main posts / v9 addendum because they will eventually be included in the v9 thread and we're steadily approaching it, but if you are impatient and want to take advantage of a change prior to the release of the thread, it's listed here.

Edit: someone asked what's with the "?/5" rating system, it's short-form for how strong the permission is in-terms of proof / validation.

A tl;dr is "1/5 = Rejected, 2/5 = Limited to songs already in-game, 3/5 = Almost Hearsay, Caution, 4/5 = Reputable & Good to use, 5/5 = I have physical proof".

RE|INSTALLED added as an alias of Ashix / The Sapphire Dragon which also got blanket permission.

ginkiha limited permissions discovered. Limited to Songs that are contracted with KONAMI are unacceptable. This includes (EOS/Dawn of Asia/EGG/Starlight). The full version of songs they have available on itunes are unacceptable. However, the short version of those songs are OK.

Syntact / Astrio moved from blanket to conditional, musician would like to be contacted when a song gets in-game.

"Open-Source Audio" permissions now no longer exist. Pre-existing artists / labels under this category have either been attributed to Creative Commons and will be listed as-such under "Label" alongside other permissions, or stripped entirely. BMSofFighters stays as permission was specified at one point, but proof no longer exists. This is because Open-Source as a concept has developed over the years to where its implementation in the thread was an early pre-conceped notion of how to handle Open-Source. Because everything is 100% available without recourse, it was assumed that copyrights must be either Creative Commons or Free to use. This is not the case, as law has developed to include copyright for Open-Sourced work. As a result, just because the work is Open-Sourced, does not necessarily mean we automatically have permission. And therefore, become their own permissions individually if we have them or not.

DJ Shockaleven moved from Blanket to Conditional. Permissions state that musician wishes to be emailed first before use.

DJAirWave / DJ Earthlight moved from limited to Blanket. Given permission to multiple songs and posted in both v2 blanket and v4 blanket thread. Also the owner of Team Pony. Good to assume we have blanket.

Ephexis permission added as 3/5 Limited: Cannot use collaborations without permission from other musicians.

A list was provided at the time of permission get to browse what is usable right now, but more could potentially be added to this as time goes on based on the permission get.

Highly Contagious Music moved from Blanket to Limited: Cannot use DJ mixes, so nothing from Mixcloud, the MIX-ON compilations, or the OG Jungle Rockas mix.

It Prevails moved from Blanket to Limited as permission derived from Rise Records.

Speedcore Worldwide Audio moved from Limited to Blanket: choof contacted the label and obtained blanket permissions, updating the limited permission.

Ivoryline moved from Blanket to Limited as permission derived from Tooth & Nail Records.

Leroy Watkins Jr. moved from Blanket to Limited: Is a Creative Commons use, and assumed blanket based on a very old usage of 1 song currently in-game.

Turns out, they only contacted the musicians. They released an update on their own thread 4 months later saying that out of the batch of mails sent, they only received a response from Masterplan, and then proceeded to mark all of their permission gets as verified blanket both in the OP of their thread, and never posted updates to the main blanket threads. Meaning, we've got No Response from these musicians, and those generally mean Rejection status. Masterplan status remains untouched, and The Berzerker permissions were obtained from xqsite days.

Things on the to-do list (in approximate order):

>Anything that is '4/5' or lower in P-Level needs Commenting, linking to the last-known trail or update on the permission.

Anything that is '5/5' needs the proof & screenshots uploaded to FFR the website itself, so they aren't lost unless FFR literally goes bye bye, and then Commented and linked back to their row.

Need to finalize & set in-stone Rule Changes which have been heavily neglected over the years because copyright is a finicky subject and not everyone knows how any of it works.

Wiki needs massive updating, as permissions no longer reflect noname's posting about permissions for a large number of musicians.

Input an update system that allows people whom wish to reach out for permissions the ability to submit row-for-row into the Spreadsheet for approval & integration, while also setting in-place settings & options for Staff to continue the Spreadsheet if updates drop off.

The v9 thread needs to be structured, organized and created with the Spreadsheet in-mind.

You will notice that the biggest / largest change (and arguably the most exhaustive), was that there was a list of permissions for v8 thread that needed to be checked, was missing information, details were unknown, or straight up did not explain the intricacies of each permission nor knew the source of many permissions. v9 aims to correct and fix all of this, so that it's either resolved, or properly managed so that it's not abused, along with explanations and reasons for every musician, with each entry being individually investigated, graded and verified for accuracy.

With that biggest hurdle out of the way, a lot of the work still needing to be done is finalizing some of the systems / write-ups to go with the v9 thread, linking to sources and hosting permission proof, and then finally organization and posting of the v9 thread.


I do implore you, that if you are trying to look for permissions and you are unsure of where to look, start with this Spreadsheet. It is the most up-to-date information on what FFR has for permissions. The 'v9 addendum' portion of OP's posts will contain the link for this Spreadsheet, as well as the very top of the first post in this thread. I'll keep working towards the goal of releasing a v9 thread in the meantime for people whom prefer doing searching on FFR's Forums.
