I have a less black and white view on how to handle inactives than you do, I think. I understand that people generally maintain their philosophy on that between games, so as long as someone is being internally consistent and not hypocritical, it is what it is. But, the riot comment in the first post, my brain has flagged as being out of place, because it's so...preemptively defensive? Not sure if there is more context you would be able to give on that

FFA weirded me out going silent at the end of the day but ultimately ended up moving his vote and I feel better about him today. I would like to hear his own thoughts on that and why he ended up following DBP on Haku though, when DBP was his vote up until that point, so thank you for reminding me to ask. @FFA can you talk about your EOD silence and where your head was at in the moment?

DBP basically played 3-4 hours of d0 fmpov. While he's known to do that now (and in the last game I played with him) or whatever, that wasn't always the case and isn't the DBP I'm used to from prior. Irrespective of that, what caught my eye at the time was that he disappeared for like the full hour leading up to EoD after his initial readup, and when he came back he told WV to keep thinking (even though he had been gone gone). So his contribution to EoD was quoting the neopets ban thing at :01, but was still willing to get on another TWG 101 highhorse to WV when he himself wasn't around most of the phase.

I don't think that portion is all that indicative of DBP's alignment, but it's frustrating because it feels like this "show up at EoD and solve" meta that's developed is harmful and that the "detective backpack" alter ego has gotten to his head tbh.

I also remember there was some contrast between lewdy's comments on "popeye" DBP vs the other inactives at the time, but idk how much stock I'd put in a dead wolf's posts. I'm just largely unimpressed by his D0 and want to see more of his thoughts on more players before I'm comfortable in being able to place where he's coming from

I just feel like I needed someone else to step up and help me make more sense of it so that I can form a more holistic view of the game, and two of the people who might have been able to do that are Currently Active non-players, and it's just... I don't feel grounded in this game."

what did you mean by "currently active non-players"? and do you feel more grounded now, or still about the same?

I made an intent to vote zenith and if not him them shadow. I forgot to unvote FFA and that's my bad but happily commenting through eod was entirely because I thought I still had 2 more hours left. Do you think I'm just going to post after the day ends as some 4d chess move to throw people off my wolf trail. Like it's some elaborate scheme

First part - by "he," I meant you. DBP actually seemed to agree with me on Haku. I think I felt that you were taking more of an observational standpoint on my conversation with Haku rather than saying everything on your mind about it. But it may have ultimately been more my fault for being afk, that I had not progressed as much there as I hoped to by the time I needed to lock in a vote.

DBP's pressure toward you was interesting to me, because I had a more overall positive view on your posts, but felt like it was more of a vibe than really getting really obvious townie energy from any specific post. I had wanted to discuss that and brought up a post I relatively liked from you. But DBP responded by more or less saying he did not really think it was that hard of a post for you to make, as a wolf and had no opinion on it. So it was not as interesting of a discussion as I had hoped.

Second part - the currently active players list, is that list of the bottom of the page that says who is posting. Roundbox and the sun fan were both on the list. They are not in this game (obviously roundbox is the mod...), but they have both been in a lot of my past games.

I do feel more grounded now because there is a lot more information. I think my main current problem is, I am not too sure how to get a better read on either of bugkid or Xel still? WV, I theoretically should be able to, but I need to do more work there.

I don't know about these days, but back in the day it was incredibly difficult NOT to get banned from Neopets. All my homies had backup accounts on the ready

When the site first started the mods would interact with people on the forum and would ban people for personal reasons. This never happened to me but I saw it happen multiple times

There were also tons of whack rules. You could get banned for:

attempting to bypass the swear filter

giving "identifiable information". This could include things like "I'm Canadian" or "My time zone is PST"

Coordinating a friend adopting one of your pets instead of just sending it into the abyss

I don't remember the exact specifics anymore cause this happened in like 2003 but one of my neofriends got banned for talking about being a furry. we started a whole campaign to unban her with a guild and pet pages that we would send people to. Not sure what we thought that would accomplish and I don't remember if she got her account back or just came back with an alt.

Now for myself, it was the stupidest reason ever. I'd had some random accounts banned in the past but my OG alt which became my main is the one I'm talking about. I had a complete plushie collection at one point in time, every plushie item in the game. I listed these in my shop at ridiculous prices to show them off, aka a "gallery". I stopped playing

FF to like 2011 or something and I log in for maybe 2 hours for nostalgia and then log off. The next day, I get an email about how I am banned because it is illegal to have a gallery in your shop since they have now added a gallery feature. They added this feature at some point in the time I had stopped playing and I just never noticed that it existed. I emailed them explaining the situation and they emailed back saying fuck off (not exactly that but yeah I wasn't getting my account back).

I just looked up my username and apparently it exists but I can't login using any of the passwords I would have used, so I can't verify if it's my account that was unbanned or if it's someone else. There is also apparently a pet with my username which 100% isn't mine which is kinda funny

So that is how you get banned from neopets lol
