I mean the NYT is very left-leaning and the purpose of this thread is to call them out on their bullshit. What's even sadder is the lack of the liberal MSM coverage on this flagrant fuck-up. Rage against injustice isn't partisan.

As an aside, I know what kind of people on Facebook you're talking about, but not everyone is obligated to comment on every single political event they encounter. I could bitch about, say, how awful Autism Speaks is as an organization but my bandwidth isn't infinite.

With HuffPo, Daily Beast, and trashcan TYT in the mix, I wouldn't say 'very' left-leaning though.

I guess when you think that politics is a line where one side is "the right" and the other side is "the left" it's easy to confuse liberals with coalitions of other "leftist" groups like democratic socialists, socialists, communists, anarchists, etc... but when you categorize things as two-sided it really betrays a complete lack of understanding of any politic outside of our phony two-party system in America.

The two parties in the US work to the same end and are mostly composed of neoconservatives on the right and neoliberals on the left. They have the same goal: To serve corporate interests and ensure profits for stakeholders. They both don't care if you shrivel up and die, they just want their profits and they want to sell you on it in different ways.

What you really mean when you think that NYT is leftist is that they have more neoliberals on staff writing opinions than neoconservatives, which is maybe correct? It's pretty questionable when their current OpEd staff has the likes of Bari Weiss, Ross Douthat, Bret Stephens, David Brooks, etc... and the Liberals are people like Paul Krugman.

Even Washington Post is solidly left of NYT by the two-sides metric though lmao.

You're not wrong, I'm pretty sure we discussed this before. I'm just responding to MML's allegations that we (I) criticize people solely around party lines, and the existence of this thread is a counterexample to that. Most people see dem=left and repub=right so it was easier to get my point across that way.

MSM cannot ever truly be leftist since they rely on and exploit capitalist structures to survive. But there is a spectrum of sources along the Overton window.

You deflecting in a manner that suggest you would hold both sides equally accountable when that's not super evident in prior actions comes off as.....well deflecting.

It's perfectly reasonable to say the Biden point was a little too off topic and you wanted to highlight the whistleblower but like, you didn't bro--you'd been off that topic for several post top IIRC so I don't see where I'm crossing the line in pointing out that I don't think that's a particularly good response to make.
