I do have to say so far weve had a lot more positive than negative comments from people. You guys have no idea how much that means to us. I really hope you all enjoy the tournament and I can't wait for it to start <3

The fact that any tournament files were left in a place where any user could access them ahead of time is a pretty serious mess up for whoever is responsible.

And the fact that one person said -no- to removing them before Tarrik stepped up? If I were admins, I'd consider making sure whoever gave that no isn't involved in the tournament anymore.

You guys run this as a cash event now, you kinda can't afford to not take it seriously. This should be "replace every song that was available for play before the event with new songs" territory.

Sounds like what happened was a recently released Stepmania file was promptly converted and put onto FFRMania without the knowledge that it would be used as a tournament file. The refusal to take it out once this little tidbit became evident, though...that's a paddlin'.

Sounded like it was more than one file from what I read here. Regardless, I'd be more concerned about the 'no' than the leaked file(s).

it's not going to influence the outcome of the tournament on any level so actually it's really not a big deal

i mean in the time it took you to write that post some kid lost a limb to a landmine somewhere and nobody even gives a shit about that

actually i agree with you that insubordination is a big deal

The inherent issue here simply revolves around the fact that files have been left in judgment or simply left in a situation to wait for release and these players have intent with releasing other content including in large packs - this is frequently a case for hi19hi19, because he is a goddamn charting machine. That's absolutely no fault to hi19 - he shouldn't have to hold up a large pack of charts because of waiting for something to go public, nor should he feel like he can't release something in a pack, especially given that his (recent) packs are themed as well.

In any case, the person involved isn't directly involved with the tournament - they're just one of the few managers of a custom engine that had the chart uploaded prior to it being used for tournament use: Le Carnaval was released in a StepMania pack in December of 2015, but it was sent to FFR sometime in November (it was in the third set of files judged for the tournaments). FFRMania dedicates their custom engine to have FFR conversions for StepMania packs, and that file got converted likely as soon as the pack was released.

The fault is less in it being public the entire time, as no one would have known that the song was being used in the specific spot that it was in -- it's moreso the fault that when action was attempted to be taken in an effort to alleviate the issue, it was initially denied.

I'm not sure what this means for preview videos; I'll consult Kayla about it again later.

EDIT: also would like to mirror that general reception towards the tournament has been substantially better than I'd expected, so yeah - thanks for that, guys. it's good to see that when i've got negative thoughts about wanting to do things, they turn to positive ones when actually working.
