I took a short hiatus from this game, and I come back seeing it worse than it was.

I think this is a really unfair statement, there has been a lot of stuff that has been done. I wouldn't say that the site is worse than it was, but there is a lot of things that can be improved on.

And if anything, you could just do it more often! Like, Psycho said that the last applications for one of the staff groups' was almost a year ago, which in her opinion isn't long but I think that is a very long time for applications, especially when this site is as slow as it is.

There were other additions that came after that though, and again it's not the fault of the people added if there's no real structure for what's going on. I've seen quite a few of the people who were added that have been in this thread expressing this. Adding a bunch of new people to teams doesn't mean jack if the teams aren't functioning right. If the teams were functioning right we really probably wouldn't have to be adding many more people on. There's actually a good deal of people in various staff roles right now.

It's a chat thing but I just don't really like it. I preferred skype and always will.

I feel like I don't have much information to go off of about Slack.. Is everyone in a big group? Do the Events and Devs and such have their own groups? You said you can't see the Dev chat, do you think that should be changed?

There's a general chat that everyone from every group is in, but it hasn't been very active. Then everyone has their own private groups. I don't think that everyone should have to be able to see everything but I think there should be more communication in the main chat about what's going on.

I love slack. I think it's pretty subjective honestly, although clearly slack has more features. I don't care where we talk, just that we talk.

I should probably note that I actually don't mind people approaching me outside of application periods about possibly joining the events team. I added badman on without the application period cause he had been doing some event stuff and looked like a good fit. I want to say that if someone really has the skills for something that even maybe going to a staff member and just saying hey I know how to do x could I help out? Idk, I'm getting tired at this point.

Now, to me, the issue doesn't seem to be the platform which you use, but a problem with circulating information within the chats. I wasn't sure at first.

Edit: Maybe there could be a designated scribe for each private group, and each scribe would relay their information to the main chat?

Just remember: It's not like y'all in the staff can't ask for help if you need it. If there's a considerable amount to be done I'm sure you'll find a lot of us non-staffers who are interested in helping out!

There will likely be more news about the direction of the staff tomorrow. For better or for worse.

For now, I think it's best to curb the speculation.

I'm open to what comes. The site is somewhat stagnant in its current state - it's not going to disappear over the next few days while we figure something out.
