What this means:
The original plan was to leave today around midnight in Hatred's car. He'd come pick me up since I live literally 5 minutes away from him, then we'd pick up Hakulyte between Quebec City and Montreal, then OpKiller and MarioNintendo in Montreal, and then it's the long haul all the way to Toronto. However...
Today, Hatred went to the garage for maintenance, aka replacing car brakes. When he was done with that, everything looked fine and dandy. Not so. On the drive back home, he noticed a burning smell. He investigated it with his dad and found that the rear discs were too close to the brakes. Garage is closed, it's 10:30pm and we're 1.5 hours away from our planned departure around midnight. Shit.
Cue Team QC going crazy. MarioNintendo despairing, his insecurity levels are through the roof. Hatred is talking with his dad to find other plans (proposed solutions: go to the garage at 8am to fix it up, delaying everything by 8 hours. Go by train, but this hurts the wallet. Find someone else who's willing to lend us a car... Ha ha ha). OpKiller is allegedly crying in a corner. Haku is probably dead, he hadn't talked in several hours at this point. I'm hoping beyond hope while making my final preparations... It's 11:10 pm and we've come to the conclusion that it's the worst possible outcome.
We look into going by train, that costs around 200$ per person. Then, just in case, we look for going by plane: 500$ per person! That's not happening. We're stressing. MarioNintendo is sad that we won't be able to listen to his lovely music in the car for 8 hours straight. oh the humanity
11:25, Hatred proposes car rental from Quebec City. MarioNintendo is sure this will fail and is already considering that he and OpKiller will go together in Op's car, abandoning the three of us (mn pls). 11:32, a glimmer of hope as Sven finds a car rental deal for 250$ for the weekend, so 50$ each. Pretty good, but Op and MN are both pretty set on going alone at this point. We talk about it for a while, Haku joins in the chat and says he has a car, but he's a noob and is afraid to drive all the way to Quebec City. It's midnight, MN is incredibly tired and insecure. We debate for a while on the car rental scenario, explain all the details, MN even asks to read the Terms and Conditions of the car rental for fear of having a heart attack. Sven and I list out all the advantages (actually going to AN) and disadvantages (depart at 7am, costs extra $$$) of the car rental.
And at 12:43, once everyone is confident in our ability to pull it off come on guys it can't be that hard, we reserve the car. Success!
