Ok this guy shows how it's done and it's not doctored but this kind of behavior would make everything around it dark because of an extremely bright spot, which is not the case in the original photo as evidently the surrounding is even brighter (and yet the black fabric in the corner is still darker in value). You would get the effect similar to this picture:


I'm not so sure anymore, but I still think the original photo doesn't have a black and blue dress in it. The way the material shines isn't the same and the black fabric reference is a key point imo. Whatever, I'm gonna question my existence now.
