What is your framerate set at? Honestly, people say that anything above 60 does nothing, but I feel it does. I use about 125. If I use 60, I get a lot of goods. Try setting it higher maybe?

It's inconsistent, so it wouldn't matter what number I would put it at. I have it at 60. The browser isn't the issue because I get the same results. Both my laptop and desktop perform the same. If this keeps up, I'll just stick to Stepmania, because FFR just keeps giving me reasons not to play it.

Have you tried using a standalone player instead of the browser?

It's just a song I have a lot of trouble getting used to. I'm not sure how much I can improve this yet.

Nothin wrong with Windows 8 other than it still being Windows. I use it myself when I want a Windows environment. Flash player 11 works very well for me. As for Windows specific stuff just make sure any unneeded processes and services are stopped, same as any other Windows. I do not know of any settings specific to Windows 8 that could be useful, but you can open the task manager and watch CPU and RAM usage for any anomalies. As long as you have task manager open it keeps graphs of the last 60 seconds of activity. On my machine this has no noticeable impact on performance.

Edit: For anyone interested there is a similar tool that also works in Windows 7 (but is slightly inferior for this purpose IMO) called resource monitor. I have not tested its effects on performance though.
