we need to be ok with making 40-50 file packs and eliminating half of all submissions again because bloated packs like ffr4, odi3, and nb5 discourage people from caring about anything other than obscenely hard shit

In the past I've weeded out plenty of weaker files. DCP was big only because the other judges released it and included a bunch of files I wanted removed.

having tons and tons of average-difficulty files in every pack tells people that they are all interchangeable so like, why download them if you already have the ckmps
DCP isn't even considered big anymore

Pretty much. PPP packs have usually contained some of the funnest files.

For the record I play ODI 3 stuff a LOT more than any of the ckmp packs...they just had/have awful quality control (see croco).

DCP I still play files from all the time. :/

you should probably have a pack with unreleased charts only because the bunch of files you probably don't have packs I compile and release focus mostly on single releases and random files that are passed around and happen to end up in my hands.

I already have a practically finished volume 4, I just need to do last minute stuff and release it, rofl. and already a volume 5 piling up really quickly.

difficulty ratings I guess if you're sticking with the old school 10+ ratings, use something similar to what GLoVE did in ODI3 maybe. of course, I'd recommend using nps scale+fudgefactor, but again it's not entirely accurate unless you have several people playtest the files and contribute their opinions on how much to fudge.

I'm perfectly alright with an unreleased file only pack. If you've actually been doing a released files collection, I trust its good enough for me to not have to do one too

ckmp4 was just me throwing together simfiles from every person I could think of

quality control was non-existent haha


you're gonna have to do this pack as a submissions pack. there are 0 single releases that aren't in packs already.

I don't think you can have a DCP/LCP without a lot of stepdude elitism, it just wouldn't feel right.
(I don't mean elitism in a bad way here)
