Re: The Speedrunning Thread
The amount of sequence breaking in Spyro 2 (100%) is copious for speedrunning, which I personally find harder than speedrunning Spyro 1 (120%). Casually though, you're right. There are some counter-intuitive supercharge paths in Spyro 1 that would make you have to look for a walkthrough just to progress. Which I had to do just to fully complete a level when I was young.I actually dusted off my copy of Ripto's Rage the other day for old time's sake and it felt like a way easier game to beat (and 100%) compared to Spyro 1 but maybe it's because I've gotten a lot better at games, I really don't know. I'll have to play through Spyro 1 tomorrow
In general I think the movement for Spyro is fairly easy compared to most platforms but the camera can make it quite difficult sometimes...still really fun games to play casually for me hehe

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
The level with the ghost knights in Magic Crafters world...Lofty Castle I think? I remember it clearly because I STILL to this day have no idea how to get everything in that level. Never bothered with an faq but that level man...that level.
I'm gonna try to 120% the game tomorrow so no spoilers...at least for now xDComment

It's Haunted Towers in the world 'Dream Weavers', which is actually the level I was wanting the walkthrough for.The level with the ghost knights in Magic Crafters world...Lofty Castle I think? Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Which one is this? The one where you have to morph into a long hole with a crab at the end? I never considered getting that one. I've been getting the second super missile upgrade in the wrecked ship. Is it any faster than the wrecked ship one? Seems like it might be.boopComment

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Yes that's the one I mean and nah the 2nd one in wrecked ship is fastest and I also get that one, so I'd end up with 15 supers when it's all said and done.
Also Spyro 120% was an overall success...took me a solid 5 hours to do though O_O. Haunted Towers wasn't even the issue this time, I must have figured the trick to the supercharge path out at some point in the past since it was super easy this time. Tree Tops was the biggest pain in my ass this time around and it was from not following the bandit at the beginning of the level >_<.
Tried fiddling a bit with the loading zone trick to get into Gnasty Gnorc early but I have no idea how to get even close to enough height in the jump to do it?Comment

I actually really enjoy Tree Tops when speedrunning because the route uses a nice little death abuse after you rescue the first dragon, still a bitch of a level though.
What were you trying to do in order to get to Gnasty Gnorc early?

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
This trick here...WR holder resets on it quite often so it's probably stupid hard haha:

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Yeah, that trick. It has been said that it's harder than the skip to Gulp in Spyro 2. Haven't tried it out myself, because there isn't really a tutorial that I know of for this skip. This trick here...WR holder resets on it quite often so it's probably stupid hard haha:

Touval does it differently than Saboom though. Touval just lines himself up with the very left of the tooth and simply charges (no fancy movement like what Saboom does in that video).Last edited by AlexDest; 03-3-2014, 11:04 PM.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Yeah, I felt like if I didn't add that in., it would've been confusing, haha.
I actually do speedrun Super Meat Boy as well. The Hospital level select screen and Chad runs very slow on my computer so I can never get a decent run in.Quality quotes:
