Too much tension between beliefs & religion as well as religion-forcing in certain countries / areas of the world.
You can't seriously expect around 200 countries to all unite as one superpower to achieve a greater good without some repercussions. Some people are not going to get along with others, and spark as easily as Syria or Ukraine. Some more serious than others.
domination has been a concern in the past and higher populations, countries going into debt, and needs / wants will put even more stress & tension on taking what is needed / wanted, even by force.
It may or may not happen due to treaties, but eventually, there will be issues that will have to either be fixed by trade, reason, or force.
