Re: Post music/songs you are embarrassed to admit you like
I've come to the point where I'm not ashamed of listening to anything, if someone asks me why I listen to folk or that rock is for emos (which they know I am not) I tell them to go back to sucking Drake's dick.
The closest things to shameful pleasures would be The Dresden Dolls and Liz Phair (only because of her suckass pop albums), and now I don't care.
The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.

Re: Post music/songs you are embarrassed to admit you like
Back during my art classes in college, we always had some free space open late in the evening so we could work whenever we would feel like it. Thing is, I would often have to spend long stretches of time there alone and so I decided to pop full albums of recently discovered bands so I could expand my library.
So, I was in the middle of some difficult to digest noise/dark ambient stuff (Nurse With Wound), just when tormenting field recordings and wailings were blasting through the speaker. And as the atmospherical tension started to kick in, which is something I crave a lot in ambient music, I looked around and noticed that my class partners had came in a while ago and were giving me mean looks through the window frames. I felt so embarrassed of the way they were judging me, I justified myself saying this was part of a concept I was working on. Never felt more guilty of my own musical taste.
I guess this could qualify as a common experience for everyone. Although I agree with most of your claims that you should not feel ashamed of your musical orientation since I have strong confidence towards what I listen to, but I just tend to accommodate people when they're around. Situations like that are often uncomfortable.
For reference, this is the track I was listening to :
And yes, now I realize how these guys were full of shit.

not so much embarrassed to listen to this, and like is a light word, I LOVE THIS......but I don't see myself showing this to my family since they're Christians haha.
Friendly warning to those who care: If you're easily offended by blasphemous lyrics, don't listen to it.
