      Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)

I figured out why the first part of the solo felt a little off, the 16ths before the 8th note hold on 4 is actually a 12th. I noticed when I slowed it to .3 out of curiosity that the 16th was a smidgen early when hearing it and the 12th sort of offset the note properly pattern wise to what I was hearing.

But a little idea crafting here

I left heavy chart-wise very similar to what was already there. I kind of experimented with changing the intro a little, but I can't remember if I saved them or not before fixing the solo today.

And Edit's chart is going to get moved to the Oni difficulty, and then make these changes:

      1. Jumpstream the crap out of it, save for the intro part (I'm talking the standard guitar streams this way you can tell a difference between what's going on chart-wise.)
      2. Keep the outro trill in the nasty to PA 34 2 34 1 34 2 ish patterns. It's a lot harder than the heavy's ending of 34 2 34 2 and 34 1 34 1 (and their mirrors, which is done on purpose to prevent you from having an easy time making the ending easier.)

Do those sounds like good changes that would make them a bit more quality? (I'm hyper against cutting the song because it's only like 2:10 length wise I'd earnestly just have to say I'm aiming for a simple but hard to score on chart here. It's difficult without just being a BUZZZZ BUZZZ BUZZ ****** luck chart which is more the current stepping norm atm.)

yes, that sounds very promising, looking forward to your file! a bit skeptical about the ending but it might be fine

WIP? it was pretty cool but it felt like i never got to the fun part. it's pretty repetetive in the beginning and i understand what you're doing with the mines, it seems well-made and i can appreciate it, but the result is that the file only becomes challenging by having mines to be avoided in a repetetive part of the file. i'm assuming this is a wip and you are gonna step more of the song?

So no, that's it. I agree, but it seemed a bit of a waste to not send what I had.

                Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)

ok now i have sm 3.9 and everything works on it

                folklore
now i can play the real chart with a properly working stepmania. the beginning part rules, and it's what i like most about the file. it's not a bad file and good job with accurate stepping, but all the parts that are the most challenging in this file are all 32nd rolls or similar 32nd bursts, while just 32nd rolls aren't too amazingly fun to begin with, it gets old very quickly in a file like this when most often everything between them is so much less challenging. if the bursts were a lot shorter you could make the file flow with the bursts more like in the beginning which is really cool, but the way it is now it just gets annoying to play when it's the same 32nd bursts all the time.

also there is no need for copy+pasting at all in a file like this when most of the arrows go to percussion, you can mix it up any way you want and the file would be a lot better if the patterns varied all the time.

the ending climax with all the hands and stuff was a cool idea and was nice at first but it also repeats way too much. the main problem with the file is that it is not challenging in a very fun way, and since it's so repetetive it doesn't really get any better

                roll the track
too easy and and uneventful. nice consistent level of difficulty and it is fun to try to MA but i don't think it has enough variation and/or is challenging enough

                rainbow rainbow
it's way too easy for this pack, i'm looking for harder simfiles. even if you were to make a harder difficulty with a lot of layering it would still become just a common file i think. also extremtly inconsistent difficulty-wise with that long 24th trill adn those one-handed 24th trills.

                Kz(re-edit) mix
haha ok i was apparently actually viewing the real edit when i was taking the screenshots lol, even though it was bugged and had 5 edits in sm 3.95. this file is hard alright lol, but not much fun at all and so much of the arrows are just completly bs haha :P

                narcolepsy
now it's really fun! it's challenging in a few different ways that all are fun and sufficiently consistently difficult. i like the 24th jumps, like the freezes before the solo, great job on having a short part with freezses like that and then not using much freezes in the rest of the song, it makes it really fun. the solo is great and some other parts are really cool as well. it's such a difference now with the boring parts cut out of the song or cut short, it's a very varied and action-filled file now, compared to before the cut. will look at it in the editor some day soon, will be accepted.

Ah, well glad to see you got to play the real version this time.

Too bad it got rejected again though. Not even a purple to signify I can try it. Nothing I can do though.

I got one more, but I don't know if it's hard enough for the pack so I'll try to find something to step that could be very challenging.

yeah you just need to find the right song. the file was easy to follow, seemed properly layered and accurately stepped throughout, it just didn't become that much fun with that song only giving you those 32nd bursts over and over and never really getting into any other type of flow. you "step well", you just have to find the right song and really figure out how you wanna structure the file.

same with Valors last files, they were also good well-made files but just didn't turn out that much fun because of the songs not giving you anything more

                          Oh wow, that song James...

That sounds if it was stepped properly, it would be a very awesome file to play while being balls hard too.

                          ...

This might be where I might try out DDReam since I don't see syncing that monster by hand to be a really easy feat.

Mind stepping her version of "I've Got Rhythm" while your at it? jk that'd be a nightmare to sync.
