In the nicest way possible: Asking their opinion on the matter is as bad as asking the non "elite." They're both biased as each other. The only clear headed person with this is gonna be the person who honestly doesn't care.

As a side note, a D7 would be nice to see. I don't care about the screwed over D6 players because that's just sadly how it works. I want to see the best players vs the best players. Not the lower best people get wrecked by the best people.

But this is unavoidable within all divisions everyone needs to realize. I want to see it cause I'm a competitive nut case who loves watching the best players play the best. It's exciting.

While there's a gap in a lot of the divisions none are as extreme as the D6 gap. I mean the bottom of any of the other divisions have a more likely chance of being able to improve enough to make it further. Odds of someone in D6 being able to pull out something like an SDG or AAA on something like La Camp like Rob just did is significantly less likely. That's why I have a hard time with the "well there's a gap in other divisions" argument. Like when I was shoved in D2 for the 5th official if you remember I was a D1 player. But I managed to skillboost my way up and made it to 13th and that was only because my computer crapped out on me.

Dossar: your point is terribly assumptive. There is a level of fun being at the bottom of a division and pushing your way up. I experienced it in the 4th official being in Division 5, and skillboosting ALL the way to 5th place (receiving 4th prize because of Shash). I didn't belong in D5 at the start of the tournament, but goddamn I made the best of it!

4th place in the highest division back in the 4th official is not comparable to 4th place in D6 now... back then there were far less players that were capable of doing anything near what's been accomplished now.

As much as your story of that tournament might be for inspiration, times have changed. The skillboost required now is exponentially higher than what was needed for that tournament.

Okay so here's basically my idea if we did implement a D7 into this tournament.

D7 would be cumulative scoring rather than elimination so that it's more a fair shot for all in D7.

There would be D7 exclusive prizes that you could only ever achieve if you reach D7 that way it kind of balances out them getting pushed from D6 so that other D6 players could get D6 prizes and makes it worth their while.

Then finally and this will probably get me lynched lol but, anyone that wins in D6 will automatically be D7 the following official.

Thoughts on this?

While that might be the case, the so-complained about skill curve was wider then than it was now.

Players put in D6 have the capability of AAAing FGOs, or have done so already, and all D6 players have that in common. In the past, being put in D5 was as simple as having [Oni], compared to people like Laggy/Shash who were packing multiple FGOs in their belt. The skill standard has been adjusted -downward- to the point of certain players potentially being put in only D3 (out of D5) if they have Oni, as long as their other scores are indicative of a style preference (see: YOSHl, who AAA'd Aim Anthem before any other C/VC, or more recently in my Christmas tournament, Jake Ferguson, who placed 8th in my tournament with Oni in D3).

I do understand the skill difference in players, but that doesn't mean that the skill curve didn't exist. Divisions have been modified to be more consistent with player skill in comparison to how they used to be.

Please for the love of god stop using this as an example every time a discussion about D6 stuff happens. Aside from the fact that its annoying because it is coming off as an attention whore about how you had this oh so awesome skill boost and need to be glorified about it constantly, this example does not fit now due to the skill levels of today being completely different compared to back when the 4th official tourn was held.

The top players of D6 have nowhere to go so they just continue to sit there at the top and get better while the lower end of D6 completely lose hope in doing decent or even seeing prizes.

I wouldnt mind seeing a D7 just to tighten up the competition in D6 and watch the true top players go at it in D7. Even after being eliminated it was fun watching battles between people like samurai and dossar.

As a member of the non-elite, I'm all for D7 It's a good way to make the battling of the very best players the centerpiece of each round, rather than suffocating that drama until like Round 6. And it gives more people more chances to win. What's not to love?

I understand the idea of expecting people to skillboost their way to the top of these kinds of tournaments, but really, theres a limit.
If you expect someone who is just recently AAA'ing 75-77's to somehow be able to whip out 85-90 AAA's like it's nobodies business within 4-5 weeks, that is just completely unrealistic.

It's different for other divisions, because if someone who just recently started AAA'ing 65-67's gets put in D5, they stand a reasonable chance of being able to AAA 75's~ within a few weeks if they try hard enough.

It's like asking one person to go from climbing a really tall rock to climbing a small local mountain, and asking another guy to go from climbing a small local mountain to climbing Mt. Everest

I myself think that there should be another division (d7).. yet there is simply just a lack of d7 skill players. I mean, I agree that the skill gap in d6 is extremely variable. yet, at the same time if you were to divide it into another group, its going to be extremely small. It is honestly a tough call.

Lol I'm just trying to get an idea of why the top tier wouldn't want a D7 is all. I've been told that they're against it and I am trying to be as fair as possible to all players. I'm hoping that the things I listed would make a D7 more fair and more enticing for the players. In this instance if we do it though they'd be playing the same files as D6 this time around since obviously we weren't going to do a D7 but at the same time that means D6 is still stuck with a really high file for the end as well haha.

Maybe for the final 3 rounds you give D7 3 different higher level songs rather than have D6 stick with it??

No but seriously, I'm bringing it up to illustrate a point -- it's not hard to increase your skill when you possess that kind of potential. It all goes down to optimizing, and spending as much time as you can figuring out how to improve things. Honestly, I could probably nail nearly all of the remaining FGOs I have left if I sat down and isolated them all, haha.
