With that being said. I have the files up on the DF engine since we don't really have anything on here to do it with (If we're going to keep doing this I'll talk to them about getting something up for StepCons)

There were newer people that stepped for this, so I will not tolerate people making mean comments about files. You can provide feedback, but do so respectfully, don't just go your file is bad, that doesn't really help anyone improve on anything. If I catch anyone doing this that's in the competition you will be removed, depending on severity bans may be issued.

Do not reveal which file is yours to anyone while the judgement process is still going. If you do you will be disqualified.

Other than that enjoy, tell us which ones are your favorites (I'm kinda curious) I'll say my favorite cut for blackout is #3 ^_^ Also feel free to guess which file is who's outside your own group. Do not do your group since that would give away which file is your own. I may give a prize to whoever gets the most correct.

1 - 8/10

Enjoyable. I'm not sure on a couple of parts but it's fun to play regardless and I'm not going to stress out over them. Favorite file for Still Blastin'.

2 - 3/10

The white note usage here was just too much and unnecessary. My biggest gripe here is that almost the entire file is jumps going to the melody with no layering the rest of the sounds in the background. The end result is some empty gaps where I could have still been tapping along. The lack of layering throughout the song makes the chart feel 2D and it's difficult for me as the player to really feel invested.

3 - 2/10

WAY overstepped. There's so much that you tried to squeeze in here but it's just bloated and unfun to play. The amount of 32nds in the jumpstreams was really overkill at times. Just the jumps would have been fine for layering. There were actually a few segments that weren't bad and were actually decent to play. The rest really needs to be toned down.

4 - 3/10

Very inconsistent difficulty. Sometimes you go all out but much of the time your stepping is very minimal. Much like #2 it's very difficult to feel invested in the song when you're not stepping the song to its full potential. The parts where you did increase the difficulty still didn't quite feel right (in particular there was a jumpglut that probably should have been some form of a 16th stream instead). I also noticed in the beginning and end there were 16th gallops that didn't feel like they were going to anything. You might want to double check those parts.

5 - 3/10

Better control over the difficulty than #2 and #4 but there's still difficulty inconsistencies here. Mostly I'm looking at the end where it suddenly spikes to a crazy (and misrhythmed?) solo followed by lots of jumpstream. There were also a number of times in the song where you could have been following the melody more closely but instead chose to step a long, seemingly random stream of 16ths notes. While they are actually going to a part of the song, they're going to the background and not the interesting part of the song. Lastly I think you could have done without all the jacks. Most of them don't truly feel like they should be a jack and they're just not fun to hit.

6 - 5/10

This started off alright, but later on it became uninteresting jumpsteams. Similarly what I said about #5; the sounds are there, it's just not the interesting part of the song. That one big 32nd burst right in the middle of the song was just really berserk and should have been a much simpler roll pattern. It does seem like you made a conscious effort, but just rethink which parts of the song you step.

7 - 1/10

Barely anything you stepped here had any relevance to the song. I really don't know what else to say about this.

8 - 5/10

I'm surprised you didn't try to do more with this. The steps themselves aren't bad for its low difficulty (although I think there was a little room in there for small 16th sections) but a song like this just needs much more oomph in difficulty. You seem to have a good understanding of how to step and I can see lots of potential to expand on what you already have and turn this into a really cool chart. For now it's just emptier than it really should be. Some songs benefit from being understepped but I'm not so sure this is one of them.

9 - 1/10

Much like #7 there's a lot of issues with the steps hardly being relevant to the song, although this isn't as bad. Plenty of inconsistencies hurt this chart a lot. The red-blue switch plus the fact that I had to adjust my offset to -14 to play this properly only add to the problems.

10 - 7/10

The earliest white notes I didn't like but about a quarter or so into the song any white notes you used were cool. That 24th stream was kinda rough to hit but I get what you're trying to do with it. Nice file overall and honestly one of the only two in this group I can really say I liked.

I'll do Within Life later. Blackout is my group so that's gonna have to wait until after the winners are announced. I will say I was pretty surprised by how good this group was. Really tough competition for a song I honestly thought was going to have a lot of generic files.

Thanks for deleting the entire post though, especially all the parts that had nothing to do with my file. Much appreciated.

The whole thing was about your file and stepping. You also broke a very simple rule I set out when releasing the files so that everyone could try them out. Don't make me have to pull them down because you're upset and ruin it for everyone else. Send a private message when you have a problem.

I really don't know everyone's stepping styles, and since some people didn't submit in the groups I can't really tell who's chart is who's. I'll try group 2 though.

I can almost guess which file(s) will win for Blackout and Still Blastin', not pretty sure about Within Life since stepping concept will be important on that song.

ps it will be really hard to guess the authors who haven't released many SM files or don't have files on FFR.

The winners in each group are almost predictable already, there's quite a strong consensus on each group over the past few pages on the best file in each. And they're all really well deserved imo
