Another typo that can be fixed.

I am aware of the Halakness monster and what he did to Washington and Pittsburgh a couple years ago. The thing with the Sharks is that it's actually going to get easier for them as the playoffs progress. This is the toughest round.

You think the Blues are the toughest opponent in the west? I'd put them 5th. I don't even know if I consider SJ the underdogs here.

There are lots of teams this year like LA, Van, Nashville, and Detroit who mosey'd through the regular season because they live for the playoffs and don't especially care about anything else. I'd be more worried about them. Vancouver won the President's Trophy ACCIDENTALLY.

I want SJ to succeed, but they're probably not going to if they get it in their heads that it only gets easier after trouncing the inexperienced Blues.

St. Louis has the best goaltending this year, and that goes a VERY long way in the playoffs. I don't think SJ has enough offense to beat St. Louis.

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition

Point 1: 30 entrants. Holy crap (PS. Welcome back, lump. Try not to go 0-4 in the semis again. =P). I never expected this big a turnout here.

Point 2: Again, thank you so much to everyone who has donated. I might just raise the prize totals again!

Point 3: Discussion already; I like it! Elliott being down may be good news for the Sharks, but you also have to look at the fact that Halak still had a 1.97 GAA, and a save % of .926; both insane stats. If it weren't for so many other goalies being insanely good, those would be 1st rank numbers any year. The problem is St. Louis really has no scoring whatsoever. They get by by letting the offense score 2 and shutting everyone down.
This is the playoffs though. San Jose knows what the intensity level is like and knows what they have to do. St. Louis' last trip to the postseason was in 2007 where they got swept by Vancouver. Not to mention, practically no one from that team is on this current Blues team. Halak has the experience, there's no denying it. But San Jose, as a team, has multitudes more playoff experience and that will be helpful for them.

Point 4: Thanks for the typo fixes. Although I don;t know where blue saw his.. I had it as emerald the whole time (I think).

San Jose has this outstanding record where every time they get into the playoffs they choke, so the favorite is St. Louis even though I don't care much for them really. It'll be exciting to see though

I'm rooting for another Pittsburgh (I like Crosby which is the only reason I care) or Chicago (their cup winning team couple years back isn't the same but I love Toews) cup this year because of the slim pickings. Hoping Dallas (life long Modano fan) and Colorado (life long Sakic fan) make it next year!

I would argue that NY and LA have better goaltending than St Louis, stats be damned.

Edit: Unless Halak Halaks, of course.
