I'm the best chess player in my highschool (which is really saying nothing) and I still really REALLY suck
Everyone on FFR is pretty much a genius so everyone is probably naturally better than me anyways ~

just play f4, g4 if you're white or f5, g5 if you're black and you should be fine~

If you guys are just looking to dust off your game by popping off a few rounds, I highly recommend Live Chess over challenging a specific person.

Well we are up to almost ten and a half players!!! (one user has only paid 2/5 of their entry fee :3
Ideally we are striving for at least 16 players, as it would make brackets a lot easier to manage and draw up at the start.
We also ask that if people haven't already, please ensure that you don't have PMs turned off. As this will make it rather difficult to update you on the happenings as they unfold.

PS: Wouldn't it be better to play live games instead of correspondence games? It can easily take over a month for such a game to finish. If you want the tournament to finish this year, it might be better to have live games (as long as it is not lightning games, I hate that).Comment

Emerald: I think there was a little confusion.
The idea as stated in the op is, 3 day rounds + a day to organise the matches.
e.g.
- Brackets go up
- 1 day for people to organise match time with opponent
- 3 days for match to take place (to allow peoples schedules)
- Results tallied, next round commences, bracket updated
With 16 players, after 2 rounds (8 days), we would be down to the final 4, where matches would be best of 3. So round 3 wil probably be given a week to complete all 2/3 games before the Grand Finale.
That being said: There is no pressure on people to play blitz matches. If you and your opponent agree on one, that is cool, it is up to you. I, for one, refuse to play matches <5mins. Cos to be honest, i get slaughtered. I generally play chess with friends while drinking, and enjoy taking the occassional time to think (plus if I need to afk due to my daughter, it gives me that luxury :L ) So to any of my opponents, i'll probably opt for a 15|0/5/10 match, depending on how they are inclined. (though I am not against perhaps playing 10|0/5/10)
Once we get 16 players, as this is the first of these tourneys and it is unlikely that we will hit 32 players, Maggie and I will contact everyone and get the finer details ironed out so everyone is on the same page.
tl;dr
- rounds 3 days + day to organise matches
- 3rd round and grand finale will be approx 1 week long each
