Well, our bodies are placed there. To me, "you" is a placeholder term for not your body, but the set of all conscious signals experienced within that body. So I think nothing happens to you after you die. Things only happen to your body. You are a bunch of signals or qualia. If you cut off a limb, you lose some physical versatility, but your identity remains entirely the same, other than the addition of a traumatic experience of losing a limb which you will remember.
